Iker Casillas

He is just in a poor form, let's see how it goes. I mean the goal by Dzeko... Almost no goalkeeper would have let that in.

He was pretty meh vs. Sevilla aswell in my opinion. Think Iker needs his mentality set straight at the moment.

But no, he isn't overrated. This guy can make some ridicoulously good games, but also have some bad. Atleast last season he was consistent and was almost mistake-free. Bad start so far, but I know how Iker reacts. He won't let the next goal be a mistake by him.

i think he's a good keeper. but not the best at the moment or one of the best of all time. what makes me mad is all this recent talk about him deserving the ballon d'or. i mean are you f#$@ing serious? for what? pele said it at first and i thought it was just another delusional comment from him. but then many others started saying this. if he wins it, i am done with this sport.

probably the best shot stopper in the world but that's where it ends... completely lacks penalty area command and flaps at half of all crosses coming his way... look at all the set pieces madrid have been conceding lately, in half of them the ball travels through the air through an area where the keeper should punch it out if not catch it entirely

still though, imma get some popcorn before the fanboys arrive in force

this is just another knee jerk thread imo. the goals last night were not his fault, first was a break away the second was knocked in by xabi.. no one would have saved that

as far as mistakes go, all goal keepers make mistakes, even the greats.

look at ability and you will know that iker is one of the best.

we have conceded 10 goals. 5 from set pieces, 4 from open play and 1 pk. most if not all of those we the fault of the defense, midfield, and defensive positioning on set pieces.

Yes it was. Saw it several times on replay. Xabi holding his head in disgust was a telling sign too.

Iker felt it was going wide and reacted late when Xabi deflected it towards goal.

Can you point out which second in this video did xabi knock the ball in.

Iker isn't a poor GK by any means. He is a legit WC Goal Keeper. But i think he has been off form for quite some time now. I mean the same Casillas who was winning motm left right center 3 years ago isn't the same one now "imo"

ANd Iker saved us over 10 last year just by making some crazy saves nobody else could. He's no longer going all over the place because he has a defense in front of him now. 3 years ago, our D might as well not even be there.

Casillas had an off game but we can't put the blame on either goal.
Dzeko had a nice finish. and the free kick was unlucky.

Xabi did not touch the ball. His head was in digust because he missed the clearance. And Casillas slightly shifted and lost his positoning.

I wouldn't trade him for any other keeper.

How quickly people have forgotten his heroics last season in the Champions League and La Liga or should we talk about the Euro's?

what the *bleep* are you talking about? barely made that many errors last season, was fantastic for both club and country.

had a bad game yesterday and a couple of other shaky moments in the season , will get back on form .

Not every GK can be perfect either.

Iker casillas Is easily the best keeper in the world by a pretty large margin IMO. His national team form is excellent as well as his club form.

He saves Madrid so many different times it's not even funny. Plus he is one of the best captains in the world although IMO a lot of his his 'authority" has been taken away by Mou.

His achievements on the club and national level are untouchable by any other keeper and before Mou got to Madrid and the Circus atmosphere that is around the club he is the glue that holds that team together.

He has been doing it for so many years now since he started so young that it seems people who start these threads are either very young or very forgetful.

And fellow Barca fans, please. There is such a massive difference between Valdes and Casillas it's not even funny, they should never be compared in the same sentence.

The only keeper I see in today's game that may have a better career when all is said and done is Neuer but he's young and has a long way to go until you can say he's better. A lot of people think it's a coin flip between him and Buffon and they may be right, I just am on the Iker side of the coin.

He will never make mistakes in a big game/final. This guy is the ultimate big game GK, unlike Kahn or Buffon(4-0).
