I believe Wenger is waiting for the right to bring in the players, we will see few new faces for sure before transfer ends the reason he is waiting to sign players is cus of Nasri not that much Cesc. This is Wengers last chance.
Next year Man u,Arsenal,Liverpool,Man city, Chesea, Spurs, Arsenal will be fighting for that 4 spots.
If that is supposed to imply that arsenal will have to fight twice as hard, I totally get it
LOL I just notice that, I think I should have put Arsenal 4 times cus that's how hard they have to work to win anything.

Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Jan Vertonghen insists he is set to stay at Ajax for another season.
The 24-year-old defender had in the past appeared to be on his way out of the Dutch club, amid reports that Arsenal and Manchester City were interested in acquiring his services.
City defender Vincent Kompany exclusively told Goal.com in June that Vertonghen is ready to make the step up and play for a club like City.
But the Belgium international insists he would like to play Champions League football and win the Eredivisie again.
"I don't have a reason to leave," Vertonghen told the club's official website. "For as it looks now I stay another year in Amsterdam. I want to play in the Champions League and that is possible at Ajax. I want to play Champions League and become champions again."

Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Inter have completed the signing of midfielder Ricky Alvarez from Argentine champions Velez Sarsfield for a fee of €12 million (£10.8m), according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
A report last week suggested that both clubs had reached an agreement over a transfer fee, and the world champions have now agreed terms with the player over a five-year deal worth €1.8m (£1.6m) per year.
Inter will reportedly pay Velez Sarsfield an initial fee of €5.7m (£5.1m), while another €3.5m (£3.1m) will be paid after Alvarez has made 15 appearances for the club - €1m (£900,000) after five games, €1m (£900,000) after 10 games and €1.5m (£1.3m) after 15 games - amounting to €9.2m (£8.2m) in total. The remaining €2.8m (£2.5m) relates to taxes that the Italian giants have agreed to pay.
The 2010 Champions League winners have been eager to add some creativity to their midfield ahead of the 2011-12 campaign, and new head coach Gian Piero Gasperini appears to have landed the reinforcement he was searching for in the form of Alvarez.
The 23-year-old, who has also been linked with a move to Arsenal, made his Velez debut in 2008, helping the side to the 2011 Clausura title with a number of impressive performances. Both clubs have yet to confirm the transfer, but an official statement is expected to be released shortly.

OMG!!This might turn out be a shitty transfer window for us we are losing almost all our targets to others(Varane,Jones,Young...) and even Vertonghen doesn't want to leave ajax now

Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Bolton manager Owen Coyle had laid down the gauntlet to the Premier League clubs chasing Gary Cahill to put up or shut up amid speculation that Manchester City, Tottenham and Arsenal are interested in the England centre-back.
Coyle has confirmed that rival clubs have expressed an interest in a player who is rated at £17 million by his employers and now the Scot has challenged them to submit formal bids for Cahill who has also been linked with Chelsea.
“There have been various clubs interested in Gary. That’s what it’s been it’s been - clubs coming in and talking about him. But there has been no concrete bid as such. I’ve said that to Gary as well,” Coyle told reporters as Cahill returned to pre-season training at Bolton on Monday.
“I can understand it’s difficult for him when he gets up and reads the latest stories. As soon as I know anything concrete, Gary and his representative will be the first to hear. I’m quite honest like that.”
The Scot added: “There are big clubs who have noted their interest. It’s up to them now to come and back that up. If they don’t I’d suggest they make that known that they’re not going to and make their move somewhere else. It certainly doesn’t help the kid or me as a manager. We have a top-class player in our ranks.
“It’s frustrating for him and for everyone. I don’t want to lose him but if there was the right thing there for him, the sooner it happens the better for Gary and everyone. But if it’s not going to happen, leave the kid alone and let’s be focused on what we need to do.”
The 25-year-old Sheffield-born Cahill began his career at Aston Villa before a £5m move to Bolton, where his progress earned him the first of three full England caps as a substitute in a 4-0 win over Bulgaria at Wembley in September 2010.

Off-Topic: Aliadière has joined Lorient!!
Jérémie Aliadière is back in football with Ligue One side Lorient, but only after once again receiving the help of Arsène Wenger.
Aliadière returned to London Coleny in the closing stages of last season, after being granted permission by Wenger to work on his fitness following a series of injuries. The 28-year-old also turned out a handful of times for the Reserves, but struggled to attract potential suitors.
However, a deal with Lorient emerged over the weekend, after Wenger used Arsenal’s good relationship with the club to get the ball rolling. Jérémie confirmed his former managers help in an interview with the Lorient website, saying:
“I think Arsène Wenger had called and requested some information from me since I was there the last four months. That’s how it started and it always helps when there are relationships like between Lorient and Arsenal.”
Aliadière has signed a one year deal with the option for a further three years if he proves his fitness. He may yet be joined by Gilles Sunu and Francis Coquelin, both of whom are still wanted on loan again by the Brittany outfit.

Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Arsenal formally completed the signings of Jon Toral and Héctor Bellerín today, with their Barcelona contracts expiring last night. The deals were done months ago, and with the dust now settled after their difficult departure from La Masia, attention starts to turn to their debut campaigns in London.
The two Spanish Under 16 midfielders both come with good reputations, but not much else is known about the duo Arsène Wenger caused a row with Barça in signing. On top of that, what part can we expect they’ll play in the short term?
Jon Toral
Toral is seen as the best equipped to settle quickly. His English connection through his mother and good physique mean there won’t be too many surprises, which should allow him to blossom earlier. On top of that, Jon has always admitted his desire to play in England, despite his parents and coaches trying to put him off. A move to Arsenal came naturally, despite Spanish media claims of the club poaching him.
A tall, strong and physical midfielder, Toral can play pretty much anywhere in the middle, but some have already suggested he may take up the holding role in front of the back four. His good vision and ability to pick accurate and incisive short and long range passes will make Toral a solid asset, but both Steve Bould and Neil Banfield like balance, and being left footed, a place in the ‘Jack Wilshere role’ seems more likely.
Héctor Bellerín
Bellerín is perhaps the most exciting signing. A fast winger who can play in a variety of forward positions, his excellent delivery, skillful approach and superb technique make him a real danger. Héctor turned down a new contract in Catalunya to join Arsenal, and after some brilliant performances in the Caspian Cup with Spain’s Under 16′s, he’s arrives in top form.
The 16-year-old can play as an out-and-out centre forward, where he has a reputation for being a goal poacher. Héctor has also filled in at right back, but it seems a role on the wing will be his true home.
Both players are expected to start off with Steve Bould’s Under 18′s, then move into Neil Banfield’s Reserve team as the season progresses. Toral already arrives with a slight ankle injury, but he’s expected to shake that off and begin pre-season as normal.
All in all, Arsenal’s latest Barcelona recruits look set for a promising debut campaign.

Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Aston Villa midfielder Stewart Downing is reportedly about to be subject to a £20 million bid from Arsenal, according to The Daily Mirror.
Liverpool are yet to complete the transfer of the England international, and it is this that has prompted Arsenal’s interest, together with fears that Samir Nasri will leave the Emirates this summer.
Wenger seems determined to sign a player with Premier League experience who will go straight into Arsenal’s starting eleven, and the signing of Downing - plus an experienced defender - would mark a definite shift in the Frenchman’s recruitment policy.
Downing is apparently keen to join a club that will challenge for silverware and play in the Champions League, while he knows that his chances of playing for England in the 2012 European Championships will improve at one of England’s top clubs.
Liverpool have reportedly had an offer for Downing accepted by Aston Villa, and while no deal has been concluded it seems unlikely that Villa's new manager Alex McLeish will be able to stop him leaving if the top clubs are interested.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
20M for Downing....? BTW what would be the actual value of Downing?

Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Aston Villa turned down a £15,000,000 bid from Liverpool for Downing just recently. There's no way in hell Arseanl would go anywhere close to that amount, let alone £20,000,000.
I'd say Downing would be £8,000,000 to £12,000,000. If Gervinho is going to cost us £11,000,000, then no way is Downing worth almost twice as much.

I'm sure you're all sick of hearing this, but...
@101greatgoals: Gervinho is in London and once his medical is completed today he will sign for Arsenal on a 4-year-deal for 12 million euros. (L'Equipe)
For all our sakes, let's hope this is true and this deal finally gets completed today.

Barca had wanted Fabregas to cause a fuss and refuse to return to training in a bid to force the deal through.
But Gunners physio Joan Ferrando said on radio station Cope Spain: “Cesc is training very well and is working professionally.
“There’s no way he would rebel against the club.”

But a source close to Fabregas’ family insisted he wants out of Arsenal as quickly as possible.
The source told the Daily Star: “He will not cause a fuss but he also wants things to be sorted out quickly.
“It would make life easier for all concerned if the move was sorted out before the Far East tour at the weekend.
“That is what Cesc wants.”

Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Both L'Equipe and Sky Sports are saying Gervinho is having his medical at the moment, so I'm pretty confident it is actually happening. Whether or not the signing will be finalised and announced today I don't know. Usually, Arsenal take quite a while to compile all the interviews and pictures and whatnot.
I remember last yeat when we had signed Koscielny. We knew he had signed for about a week before Arsenal actually presented Koscielny to the fans and media.
By the way, got this from twitter (I know, I know). Sandro Rosell apparently said that he "likes players to show they want to join Barcelona". Hm, I wonder what that could mean.
