The whole thing would be difficult as said... Would Valencian community be integrated etc?

League would never happen but maybe NT would change.

Thiago is an interesting one because he's as Catalan as he is Spanish... (which is not very much lol) I don't think it'd be an easy decision, in fact I reckon he'd choose Brazil if presented with the decision.

Promising young guys like Ruiz, Amat, Didac, Tejera, Alvaro as well as Barca boys like Deulofeu etc. are all Catalan so I'm sure the team would be excellent.

It could be something like this: (note! in a couple of years)

Valdes
Montoya Pique Ruiz Alba
Busquets
Xavi Fabregas
Cuenca/Alvaro Bojan Deulofeu

Catalan President, Artur Mas, has been saying all along this week that the process for independence has started and will not stop if people keeps supporting it and we resist.

Seems we are on a serious way to independence now, but we we'll have to await to see how it develops, especially the meeting Artur Mas and Spain's president have on the 20th next week, when they will discuss about Catalan's tax deficit (currently 10% of our GDP in favour of the rest of Spain, the biggest in any democratic country in the whole world). If Mas comes back empty handed, it seems the governing party will fully commit to independence. Let's pray he comes empty handed!

Kizz team is very good, but Xavi won't make it cause of his age. It could still be a very strong side:

Valdes
Montoya Pique Ruiz Alba
Busquets
Verdu---Fabregas
Cuenca Bojan Deulofeu

With Tello, Javi Marquez, Alvaro Vazquez, Jordi Amat, Dídac Vila, Sergio Garcia and many other decent bench players.
Also, I think that Pedro, Thiago or Iniesta would choose to play with Spain, but possibly they could be eligible to play for catalonia given that there is no legal definition of what a catalan is in spain: A catalan is someone who has lived in Catalonia for a couple of years! So legally, Iniesta is as catalan as I am, and that's why he played with Catalonia a couple of times.

Thiago and Iniesta can't speak Catalan.
Never heard Busquets speak Catalan either.

How can they be in a Catalan national team if they can't speak the official language. Quite ironic I'd say.

He's Catalan though... I'm pretty sure he can speak it, just because you've never heard him speak it doesn't mean he can't.

Sure, but I didn't say otherwise. I wasn't making a statement about him speaking the language or not. I was merely pointing out that I hadn't personally seen him speak it.

Dany, you are implying that he can't speak the language with the final sentences in your post.

But whatever, this discussion is useless. Just leave it at that.

How can he be in the Catalan NT? Because he was born in Catalonia? I thought that alone should be instant qualification.

Busquets speaks catalan. All the questions he receives in catalan, he answers them in the same language. I have heard him plenty of times speak in catalan in every press conference actually. But well, you are not even a Barça fan so...

Iniesta speaks catalan too btw, not very well though.

I don't think that Iniesta, Pedro or Thiago would choose to get catalan nationality, I was just pointing out that legally, is quite possible that they could qualify to get catalan nationality and hence to change national teams.

Another brick in the wall:

After the 3-2, Camp Nou started chanting "In-Inde-Independence" in an unprecedented display of independentism by Barça fans. This has never happened before in Camp Nou, although I already witnessed something similar in the Copa del Rey final:

Let's go catalans! Let's Go Artur Mas!

Catalan President Artur Mas met today with Spanish MP Mariano Rajoy to discuss about the possibility to have tax soverignity like the basque country, and Mariano Rajoy just said no.
Our president said that if Spain will not negotiate, this door will be closed and next week there will be decisions to be made.
Everyone expects that the President will call for anticipated elections that will be centered around Catalan independence.

Proud to have been there!

Rosell finally went there but not representing our club.

IMO the path to independence is unstoppable.

What league would you like Barcelona to play?

continue in the Spanish? new Iberian league? go to league 1 or Italy?

free how many did actually go to the demonstration? I am curious because I have heard alot of different numbers. Varying from 500.000 to 2 000 000(and in that article it states 1.5m).

@neuro11: I don't think there's any chance that there is a war. Catalonia, has no army and within the frame of the EU is very unlikely. However, it has to be noted that Spanish constitution says that the army is the guarantee of the unity of Spain.

Harhar: it's very difficult to say. My guess is that around 1 million. Anyway, the important is that it was the biggest rally ever in the history of Catalonia.
No cause has ever put so many people in the streets than the independence.

Catalan President Artur Mas has called today for advanced elections to be hold on 25th November 2012.
The president stated that the will showed in the street must be translated to votes to show there's a majority for catalan autodetermination.
CIU (our president's party), ERC, ICV and SI (big majority in the catalan parliament) are preparing a resolution to support catalan autodetermination.

Should add a facet to the Classico coming up in about 10 days.

The castellanos will send their Portuguese mercenaries to stomp on some Barcelona hands and ankles, and maybe poke an eye or two.

Next Classico will be extremely heated up at the stands. Expect more starred catalan flags than ever and probably several chants of "independence" along the match!
It will be legendary to see the reactions in Spanish media.

Catalan parliament approved today a resolution to make an independence referendum in the next 4 years. 84 members voted in favour, 21 agains and 25 abstained.

Eager to see the elections results!

I hope they dont do that(chant independence, I have nothing against the flags) because the tension is already way to high, even though it has lessen a bit in the recent games, and it might get even higher if they start chanting that and revert to how the clasico was 2 seasons ago. And I really dont want that, it makes a game awful to watch..

It can give an extra morale boost on the other side.
It will happen though. I'll probably be there with my starred catalan flag.
