Official Modric joins Real Madrid

It's Madrid people. we have a 40 million CF who is rotating with higs. a 30 Million LB who is Rotating with Marcelo. hell a 60 million bench warmer who we pay 10 million a year.

so paying 40 million for a CM ( the position we needed a creative and agile player badly ) who can actually improve our play isn't a big deal.

But we can't shell out 8 million for Debuchy

Even Song had more assist than Modric last season

actually modrics makes a fair ammount of key passes each year, saying key passes obviously i mean final balls, though the other tottenham attackers dont finish them

The fact that Iniesta doesn't exactly light up assist charts despite clearly having an amazing final ball and very potent finishers in front of him tells me assist stats aren't all there is to be said for having a great final ball or elite passing in the final third.

Zidane didn't exactly light up the stat sheets either.

Unfortunately we didn't buy Iniesta or Zidane , we bkugh Modric

I agree that assists = final ball ability is very very sketchy (it's this same logic that led to the famous proclamation of Ronaldo as the 5th best playmaker in the world not so long ago )

But at the same time I'm almost sure you know very very little about Modric outside of YouTube vids.

We just have to wait and see.

lol I have watched him a lot even before he came to Spuds, we were interested in him and Ben arfa and Nasri but Wenger went for Nasri instead. I remember when he was new and he couldn't hand the pace and physicality of the league. Spuds though he was too weak to play in the middle of the park so they kept playing him on the Wing

Iniesta doesn't have a great final ball though..... i mean sure he's capable of it but it's nowhere near close to being consistent.

Too much for bench player. Not good as Xabi Alonso for his job, not good as Khedira for his job, not good as Ozil for his job...

Modric is twice the player Khedira is and Khedira is our second best CM in the squad. Sahin was suppose to be replacement to Xabi, not play alongside him.

I think MOdric is a good player and the price is right. Don't know, though, if he will be a "starter" at Madrid, considering Mou doesn't like to play without a DM, and I don't see Modric starting over Ozil or Alonso.

Modric will play instead of Khedira, he can do the defensive work if needed too if Mou wants him. Khedira is useless at defence and offers nothing.

we could see an 3 man midfield formation.

Comparing Modric to Xavi, Iniesta or Zidane based on his lack of assists is futile considering these are players who are on a completely different spectrum of play in all aspects. Meireles has made many key passes yet you won't see anyone call him a playmaker.

The fact is Modric is simply a mobile playmaker who relies a lot on his mobility to distribute his passes but what Jibers, Mole and I for instance will tell you is that all he really does is run around like an idiot on the field making passes that don't do much except open up a few deep spaces.

Simply put he is good, not great.

We needed an agile midfielder. Alonso and Khedira are too slow at times.
