Abate recently stated in an interview that when Zenit made an offer for him in the winter, Galliani didn't even consider it and told him that Milan wanted to retain him. He's still our best fullback and it is beyond our power to bring in a superior player through the market given our financial priorities. The squad needs to ensure that those players in their prime are retained during our transitional period to keep us on track to meet our short term objectives in the league and Europe. I doubt we'll see any movement unless perhaps Santon becomes available for a reasonable price, which is highly unlikely.

Even though Santon were to be let go for a small fee, i wouldn't want Abate to go. He's a youth product of ours. The only way i can see him leave is if he himself is pushing for a move... but even then i dont want him to go Sad

Same, I'd still prefer to retain Abate, but it would make any departure more palatable.

Abate will not be leaving, he just had a child making moving impossible.

on top of Poli we are also apparently in the process of purchasing Lucas Mugni and letting him stay with his club one more season to mature.

Isn't the acquisiton Poli a bit redudant with Montolivo already in the squad though? Would have thought Milan's number one target would be a playmaker this summer. Then again who says that will be their only signing.

Montolivo and Poli are two very different players. I don't know if you've watched all season or not, but Montolivo is very creative and has been vital to our mids creativity. A player like Poli will compliment Montolivo incredibly well.

Poli is more of a jack of all trades midfielder, he can attack, can track back, can be creative. He can do a lot, someone like Montolivo would be like Cristante, our youth player (currently being integrated in the first team)

Honestly havent watched much of Poli bar 1/2 games before but I thought he was always regarded as more of a Pirlo type player like Montolivo is. Looks like I'm way off the mark lol.
