so what's wrong with Milan ? I know they lost their two best players but they still have a solid team non the less. So is it psychological or tactical ? or both ?

Totti looks like a completely different player this season under Zeman. You would never think he is nearly 36.

El Sharaawy is really making a great impact on Milan. Interesting how he is becoming the leader of the frontline at such a young age. Great prospect, quite sad that the pitch was so terrible yesterday because of the rain.

Ironic how Miccoli leads Gasperini to his first win, considering that last season Miccoli scored twice and assisted once to beat Gasperini's Inter. So Gasperini's 1st Serie A defeat for Inter was due to Miccoli, and his first Serie A win for Palermo was also due to Miccoli. Another goal of the season contender

Re: Official Serie A Thread
Italy tied for fifth in coefficients after a very good round. The next rounds should also bring a lot of points and Italy should be 3rd and 4th for this season. If everyone can qualify from their respective group stages, it will be a pretty solid year for Italy. Most importantly, the countries that are closely following Italy will probably have pretty a poor year. France will likely only get one of three CL teams qualifying with the other two most likely finishing third or fourth. Portugal looks a bit better in the CL, but their EL teams have disappointed so far.

Prior to the Atalanta game, The Class of 2012 was officially inducted into the inaugural Roma Hall of Fame. The players selected by the fans, media and a panel out of a final pool of 55 were:

The daughters of Fulvio Bernadini and Amadeo Amadei as well as the wife of Ago Bartolomei accepted the celebration jerseys on behalf of the players, who are deceased. Cafu was unable to make it.

I can agree with this team honestly. Rocca's inclusion was a bit surprising since he didn't play for us long, but his impact was immense in his short time here as evidenced with him being inducted into this side ahead of the likes of Vincent Candela and Sebastiano Nela.
Was an emotional ceremony this morning. Can't say enough about this guys that were picked and even the other 44 that weren't, who were all worthy of this team.

Bologna with a great win against Napoli. This was a great game to watch and not just because I was hoping Napoli would lose. So many chances and drama in the end. Diamanti was a beast, every attack was through him, then the decisive assist in the end. Kone's goal was just marvellous too. They were unlucky not to beat Lazio on Monday too, so if they keep on playing like this they won't be relegated.

Re: Official Serie A Thread
If Italian football is serious about trying to raise Italy's coefficient, they should look at the fixture list.
If I take the Champions League for example.....the games are reasonably spaced out for the group stage and the round of 16. However, the Quarter finals and Semi Finals happen in consecutive weeks making April and May very busy for clubs involved in the competition.
The most obvious thing the FIGC should do is start the overall season a week or 2 earlier and perhaps shorten the winter break to free up more space in the calender for these crucial months.
Take Juve in April for example. They have to play Inter, QF 1st leg, Pescara, QF 2nd leg, Lazio, Milan, Semi 1st leg, Torino and Semi 2nd leg all in that month assuming they progressed to the semis. 9 games in 1 month. This would obviously have been similar for Milan, had we qualified.
Compare that to January where Juve would have played only 4 games (or 5 if you include Coppa Italia), and you know you have a serious scheduling inefficiency.
Another alternative is that for Italian teams participating in Quarters or Semis in either Champions League or Europa League, should be entitled to schedule a bye day and have the match re-scheduled later in the calender.
It makes painful common sense.
All European leagues have similar difficulties, but the FIGC should be more proactive to allow enough room in the schedule to stop Italian teams prioritizing the league over European success.

Re: Official Serie A Thread
Shortening the winter break is generally a bad idea as it leads to less rested players by the end of the season, thus increasing the likelihood of injury and also decreasing NT performances in international competitions. 9 games in 1 month is not that bad, essentially a game every 3 or 4 days, which is fairly normal. I'm sure top teams in La Liga, EPL and bundesliga face similar amounts.

Yeah, it is true that other leagues face similar circumstances, but Why wouldn't the FIGC try to give Italian teams an edge? The lower Italians teams go down the co-efficients, the less popular Serie A becomes and the less revenue it earns. Of course there are many reasons for this. But Serie A will be able to attract better players if they are well regarded in Europe. The FIGC should be looking at every avenue possible to improve this. Freeing up space in the Calender is one such way to do so.
Actually, in the Champions league, Italy's record is not that bad over the last 9-10 years. Its been in the Europa league that really hurt. The Europa league is a lower level competition with even MORE games if you want to win it. Italian teams don't prioritize it all. In order to encourage Italian teams to participate more wholeheartedly in the competition, scheduling could be a big help. Napoli was Italy's strongest team in that tournament (and have some decent experience in the champions league) yet completely disregarded the competition, though some of the blame can be handed to the lack of financial incentives. This needs to change, if Italian football is to improve.
