Guys, some of us commented that Pep should not be given control over the transfer market. However he has done one very sensible thing. He has made it clear that our priority is a forward and a midfielder comes second. This has a lot of significance.

One is that we do not intend to decrease one forward and play Iniesta in the final third as dani and some others had feared.

Secondly we spend the bulk of our money on A.Sanchez and thus have limited money for buying Fabregas. For the first time this summer the chances of Fabregas arriving have actually reduced. See if Fabregas was our priority we could have made that deal first offering more money. However that didn't happen and we must commend Pep and the board for going by rationale instead of sentiment. We have made only a E29m offer which is way too low compared to what Arsenal want. It's unlikely we will be raising it enough to meet their expectation. Arsenal fans will of course be very happy. So will some Barcelona fans who will drink to it. mole will hold the largest glass followed by me. I just wish that this matter is laid to rest rather than having continuous reports that the deal could still happen. That only serves to irritate everyone - us, Arsenal fans and the rest of the football audience as well.

One question here. If Fabregas does not arrive and assuming the A.Sanchez deal is finalized as widely reported, do you think Afellay will get some chances in midfield as well? Or will that be exclusively for Thiago and Keita while Afellay will only be the fifth choice forward? Either way it doesn't sound bad.

If they really want him, I wish they would sign him and get it over with and move on to other business. Instead they drag it out as long as possible hoping Wenger gets annoyed and drops the price or something silly...this saga got old a while ago and it's embarrassing for the club

Nice calculation but it's not just about not having the money. I get the feeling Rossell does not want to pay much money for Cesc. He is probably fine if he doesn't come. If Pep really insists then he may raise the bid but to what extent is anyone's guess. The latest comments of Pep give me an indication that even he is not too keen on Fabregas - at least not this summer. Let's see what happens. However it would be best if the saga was resolved with finality one way or another.

It’s merely the calculation that shows that if required 40m can fund the transfer.
However I don’t think it’s wise to suggest Pep has no say on the transfers.

It’s the material he has to work with after all. The materials to materialize his vision.
I know he has some poor choices but you can’t have a coach who doesn’t have a say on his roster

No.. but Toral & Hector both were U-16 & didn't have a contract with barca!!

Rosell is speaking about B team & Barca U-19 players, who have contracts with Barca, if Barca see that they are promising, hey will have a buyback option..

It took Barca 53 pages to sign someone, on page 106 they will sign another.

UPDATE:
Barca B mid Oriol Romeu close to signing for Chelsea. Apparently for 5 million euro, Barca will have a buyback after 2 years. He will join first team, Villas Boas is a fan of Romeu!!

I don't really see the buy back option as being too useful then, though. I doubt Barca will use it at all, since we seem pretty covered for the next 2 years.
