After our 2:1 away victory against Victoria Köln in the Regionalliga West, the Niederrhein-Pokal match against TV Kalkum-Wittlaer ended 5:0 for us.

So now we are in the semi final of the Niederrhein-Pokal where we will play our Niederrhein-Derby against MSV Duisburg (who are the current holders of the cup).

Well, ever since our bosses decided not to apply for the licence for the 3rd Liga due to lack of money, our boys seem to win for fun.

If you wonder why a club would forfeit a promotion that is still in the realm of the possibility - the problem ist that we are not guaranteed reaching the first place and getting into the promotion round this season (both BMG II and Aachen are still some points away), and applying for a 3rd Liga license costs quite some money that has to be paid even if one doesn't get promoted.

So our board decided to save the money this season and rather work on continuing to improve the squad and better apply for the licence when we look more likely to go through than this season.

Yay!

RWO (4th division) managed a 100% deserved 2:0 win against MSV Duisburg (3rd division) in the Niederrhein-Pokal semi final.

That means we will take on our favourite rivals RWE in the Niederrhein-Pokal final, and if we would manage to win that, we would feature in next year's DFB-Pokal again cheers

Fresh RWO News - on Sunday we managed to acieve a 2:2 draw against the current RL West leader Borussia M'gladbach II. cheers

And our former "football god" Mike Terranova, who hung up his football shoes 1 1/2 years ago, just got his coaching A-Lizenz (UEFA A-Level) and currently works as U16 coach in the RWO Leistungszentrum (RWO Center of Excellence, our DFB-certified youth academy). cheers

I'm still annoyed we lost to FC Kray last week. That was such an idiotic loss when we were clearly the better team. But FC Kray obviously were the cleverer team... So now we are the only team that got defeated by these guys from Essen...

On the other hand, we are the only team that defeated Sportfreunde Lotte who are a bit above us in the table ^^

Nice day today - first we win 4:1 in Velbert in the RL West, and then we get Ratingen 04/19 for the Niederrheinpokal quarter final, while our favourite enemy rival RWE got our Pokal nemesis Hönnepel-Niedermörmter. So either RWE or HöNie are out this round! Chaka

Okay, short summary of the last time...

First and most important:
RWO won the derby against RWE in the Regionalliga West last week!  cheers

In the Niederrheinpokal, RWE kicked out Hö-Nie, and RWO won the quarter final match against Ratingen 04/19 with 2:0 and so we are in the semi final now, too.

Third semi participant is FC Kray, while the match SWE vs WSV was cancelled because the field was not fit for play (too much rain, the players could have drowned or might have sunken in the mud.)

So the Niederrheinpokal semi final will have RWO, RWE, FC Kray (also Essen) and either SWE (Essen, too) or WSV (Wuppertal). So it might very well be that we'll have Oberhausen against 3 teams from Essen in the SF... o_O

So. the Regionalliga-West is in the winter break now, too. RWO suffered some really unnecessary losses in the last matchdays and thus ruined a better standing.

At least we are still in the Niederrheinpokal. The draw for the semi final will be in January.

A little update - now that all 4 participants are known (RWO, RWE, FC Kray and WSV), the draw for the Niederrheinpokal Semi Final will take place on Jan 21.

Rot-Weiß Oberhausen - Page 4 Nieder10
Niederrheinpokal (Lower Rhine Cup)

In the mean time, RWO won the test match against Twente Enschede in Enschede with 3:0 and show a good early form. Let's hope this will continue into the Regionalliga which starts on Jan 30 away against Sportfreunde Lotte.

Meh. Just lost the away match against M'gladbach II with 1:2. No fun Sad

At least we have a new teambus, even though I think that the white design doesn't look as cool as the earlier all red bus we had:

Finally! On matchday 6, we got our first win in the RL West!

After 4 straight defeats, the coach Andreas Zimmermann was sacked and we got former fan favourite Mike "Fußballgott" Terranova who coached RWO's U23 as new coach. So far he only got his A-Licence, but for the Regionalliga this suffices.

Rot-Weiß Oberhausen - Page 4 Terra10

As he was RWO's main striker for a full seven years (until he retired in 2013 to start getting his coaching badges), he managed to show his players how to score again and RWO went from zero goals in 4 matches to 5 goals in 3 matches (2 games in the RL and 1 in the Cup). cheers

It really shows that our new coach Mike Terranova was the long year star striker of RWO - in today's match against Sportfreunde Siegen we managed to win 7:1, and even that was a bit too low.

It's obvious that Terra - who always knew where the opponents' goal was located - is able to teach this to today's strikers, too.

Thus we went from 0 goals for and 8 goals against after matchday 4 to a much more agreeable number of 10 goals for and 11 goals against after matchday 7 cheers
