Not really true, he's been carrying Lyon for those past two seasons....

It's an outstanding coup for Spurs, will probably go on to be the best GK in the PL within 12 months.

Wonder if this means Freidal's long run of consecutive games will finally come to an end.

Rennes sporting director Pierre Dreossi on M'Vila:

"There is nothing big to report. We've had some contact, but nothing more than that," he told France Football.

"The more we go on, the more we can think [that he'll stay].

"Now, as I've been saying for a long time, we will know whether Yann will eventually leave in the final week [of the market].

"If Yann stays, all the better, and we'd be a bit stronger with him than without him."

He has had lots of long term injuries past few seasons and we can't really offer him a spot apart from cup games.

Seriously RG? We have a buyback clause <_<

Interest on Struddige ? Yes.

But nowhere anyone mentioned about anywhere being a bid being imminent though.

Not that I am aware of Gil. Only ESPN and one of more reliable ITKs. we want him on loan apparently.

Also hearing if Walcott doesn't pen a new deal until thursday, then he may be off, I suspect BR is monitoring that as well.

I expect a January 2011-esque busy transfer deadline for all PL clubs to be honest.

Jose Mourinho has told Ricardo Carvalho to find a new club before Friday's transfer deadline or face a season on the sidelines at Real Madrid.

The former Chelsea centre-back is in the final year of his contract and no longer features in the first-team plans of the Primera Liga champions.

Carvalho was earlier in August thought to be close to a move to Queens Park Rangers and a return to the Premier League could yet happen.

The 34-year-old has been given a clear explanation of his status by Mourinho, who he worked with at Porto and Chelsea before in 2010 joining Real.

Mourinho said ahead of Wednesday's Spanish Super Cup second leg: "It's his decision whether he wants to continue playing football or to stay at Real Madrid (for the rest of the season)."

Real in 2010 paid Chelsea a fee of £6.7million for the centre-back, who during his time at Stamford Bridge won three Premier League titles, three FA Cups and two League Cups.

I expect f*ck all to happen tbh and the day to be full of "fake" bids for players that don't actually happen and we are left to rue what could have been.

Carroll:

Reports in Italy suggest the Rossoneri have opened talks with Liverpool over taking the England international to the San Siro on an initial loan deal with a view to a permanent transfer.

The claims, originating from Sport Mediaset, which is incidently owned by Milan supremo Silvio Berlusconi claims the deal will contain a purchase option of £13.5 million should Milan want to keep the 24-year-old beyond the expiry of his loan.

Galliani on Bojan, Carroll and Palombo
By Football Italia staff

Adriano Galliani admits Milan “turned down” the chance to sign Sampdoria’s Angelo Palombo and ruled out Andy Carroll after securing Bojan Krkic and M’Baye Niang. "Our market is closed."

It has been a very busy day at the Milanello training ground, as in the last few hours the Rossoneri have officially signed Niang from Caen and Roma striker Bojan arrived to complete his loan transfer.

“Bojan is a good signing and with him we close the transfer market,” Galliani told journalists outside the club headquarters this evening.

“Tomorrow he will undergo his medical and he’ll be available for this weekend’s trip to Bologna.”

The Vice-President also revealed an Italian international midfielder was rejected.

“Palombo was proposed to us, but we turned down the offer,” he said of the Sampdoria veteran who spent last season on loan at Inter.

“Carroll on loan from Liverpool? We have completed our selection of forwards and will not be buying any more. It’s a pity Robinho got injured, but we will wait for him.

“As for Kaka, there will be no trip to Madrid for further talks with Real.”

Douglas Costa:

The 21-year-old's agent, Cesar Bottega, claims Villas-Boas is an admirer of the former Gremio man but the North Londoners have not made any concrete approach.

He told calciomercato.it: "Villas-Boas appreciates Douglas Costa's qualities, although we have not received any official offer."

Fulham are another club being linked with the Brazilian but Bottega feels he may be out of the Cottagers' price range.

The agent added: "The club is not a great possibility economically, given we know the player's evaluation is around €18million (£14.3m)."

Close

Bottega claims Roma were close to signing Costa but the deal did not materialise, while talks have also been held with Napoli.

He said: "We have spoken several times with Napoli and we were close to Roma, who made an offer, but the deal didn't go through."

Summer Transfer Rumour Thread Pt. 8 - Page 15 Empty Re: Summer Transfer Rumour Thread Pt. 8

Post by Great Leader Sprucenuce Tue Aug 28, 2012 7:46 pm

Any club hoping to lure a big name away from Newcastle during the
remaining days of the summer transfer window would have to make an
astronomical offer to succeed.

Press Association Sport understands only bids they simply could not ignore would prompt the Magpies even to consider parting with the likes of skipper Fabricio Coloccini or midfielders Cheick Tiote and Yohan Cabaye.

Coloccini has been linked with Barclays Premier League champions Manchester City in recent days, while both Tiote and Cabaye have been touted as targets for Arsenal ahead of Friday's deadline.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has played down his reported interest in the Ivory Coast international, although Newcastle counterpart Alan Pardew will be a relieved man if he gets to Saturday morning without losing one of his key players.

However, potential purchasers will be left in little doubt that, with the Magpies not looking to sell, they would have to find in excess of £20million to give themselves any chance of landing a member of Pardew's blue chip brigade.

Indeed, it is understood that if Wenger was to pursue an interest in Cabaye, for example, it would take much of the proceeds of Robin van Persie's £24million switch to Manchester United to unlock the door at St James' Park.

The values of all three men have grown appreciably during their time on Tyneside with Coloccini recovering from a difficult start in English football to not only justify his £10.3million price-tag, but prove an astute acquisition.

Both Tiote and Cabaye, of course, are products of the club's much-envied recruitment policy which has seen chief scout Graham Carr identify players with potential and the Magpies snap them up at competitive prices.

The Ivorian cost Newcastle just £3.5million when he joined from Dutch side FC Twente during the summer of 2010, while the Frenchman's signature was secured from Lille in return for £4.8million a year later.

Both have been big hits in the Premier League with Tiote's all-action, aggressive style complementing Cabaye's cultured passing game, and both have played central roles in the club's return to prominence.

Pardew, who spent the first two months of the summer hoping no club would activate the £7.5million release clause in striker Demba Ba's contract, knows all players have their price following Andy Carroll's £35million departure for Liverpool just weeks into his reign.

However, he is desperate to strengthen, rather than weaken, his current crop and to that end, still has hopes of adding further recruits of his own.

Pardew has so far drafted in midfielders Vurnon Anita, Gael Bigirimana and Romain Amalfitano, and is keen to boost his options in both defence and attack.

His interest in Lille full-back Mathieu Debuchy and Twente central defender Douglas has been well-documented, while Carroll's proposed return from Anfield, either on loan or at a knock-down price, remains a focus despite the Reds' disdain.

But with all three deals having proved difficult to execute, the club has alternatives, although all activity will be governed by the insistence of owner Mike Ashley and managing director Derek Llambias that they will only do business on their own terms.
