hahahaha, yes I think that's the problem, he's not very good at linking up that well. Also playing for West Brom and scoring that many goals is one thing, I guess at the end he needs to be able to link up with our playmakers to be successful at Chelsea.

Re: The Fridge Full of Cash - Romelu Lukaku
Which is why he's still not ready for Chelsea, IMO. I've seen quite a bit of him this season and in every game, the same deficiencies appear. Poor first touch, passing in the final third could be much better, and his finishing - even as ridiculous as it sounds with him having scored 17 goals this season - is not good. He's missed several sitters in just about every game I've seen him in this year.Ganso wrote:I have not watched him at all in the PL this season, but i saw your preseason games and i have watched some Belgium(watching them right now vs USA) and I have to saw that he is a great goalscorer/finisher but his overall play is awful. His passing is average and he has the first touch of a rapist
Granted, the fact that he's been able to hit the tally he did this season even with all these unpolished facets still in his game is truly sensational, but he's going to need to iron them out if he wants to get regular playing time at Chelsea, and I just don't see that happening next season.
He needs another loan to a side that play possession football to further develop the technical side of his game, which is why I'm hoping these rumours concerning Swansea are true.

Yes, seeing these criticisms of him honestly made me open my eyes a bit more, I was blinded by the fact that he got such a tally. Playing for Swansea would be good for him in improving his technical game. Maybe he is just being a big baby when he complains about his lack of chances at first team here, hopefully he is patient enough to go through this so that his time will come at chelsea

Lukaku set to stay at Chelsea as Mourinho assures young striker he will get his chance:

Some very interesting quotes from Lukaku.

"I always said my ambition was to play for Chelsea, and now I will go back to Stamford Bridge and try and play even more games than I did at West Brom," he said. 'If I can score a few early on, it can turn into a really good season for me."
"I have had a good conversation with Jose Mourinho, and I know it's up to me to show I'm worth a place. It is the World Cup next year, and I need to be playing. But if I don't get in the Chelsea team often enough, then I won't deserve to be in the national squad."
"I am not afraid of that. I am determined to succeed with Chelsea next season. I want to prove myself. People will compare me with Didier Drogba, and he was always my hero. But I am my own man, and I want to be known for what I do."
Some very interesting quotes from Lukaku.

The fridge coming home
Seriously if Jose can get him inspired and scoring he will be unstoppable. Jose just needs to help him with the pressure of playing for a bigger club but if he can score 17 with WBA there's no limit to what he can do for us with the players we'll have in behind him. Jose knows how to play with a big man up top so we'll be able to utilize him properly.

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku rules out going out on loan again:
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11668/8825398
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11668/8825398
"Yeah we spoke and I want to keep it private because when you have confidential talks with the manager, it has to stay between you and him. We had a good talk and now it's up to me."
Asked if he would consider another loan move this season, Lukakau said: "No, not at the moment."
"You never know in football but my mind is in Chelsea now and I have come back to do well in pre-season and if I do a good pre-season, I think I will have a place in the squad and hopefully in the starting 11."

Re: The Fridge Full of Cash - Romelu Lukaku
José Mourinho impressed by Romelu Lukaku:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/jul/21/chelsea-romelu-lukaku-malaysia

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/jul/21/chelsea-romelu-lukaku-malaysia
"Lukaku had a fantastic manager last season but Steve [Clarke] is Steve, I am me and West Brom is not Chelsea. It's up to the kid but he's open and intelligent to learn the kind of movement we want."
"The role he played tonight was the right movement. We don't want the striker just aiming between the central defenders but making movements, sometimes between the midfield or moving wide.
People compare him to Didier Drogba but we have to respect Didier, because he is unique in Chelsea's history, and we have to respect Lukaku. The best way to do that is not compare him to a legend in Chelsea's history. Leave Didier where he is, at the top of Chelsea's history, and leave Lukaku to work hard. The kid is good."
Asked if Lukaku could challenge Fernando Torres for a starting place, regardless of the Rooney situation, Mourinho merely added: "Of course.

Re: The Fridge Full of Cash - Romelu Lukaku
Wayne Rooney transfer to Chelsea would make me work even harder, Romelu Lukaku claims:
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/wayne-rooney-transfer-romelu-lukaku-2077088
On Rooney Speculation:
On Himself:
On Mourinho:
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/wayne-rooney-transfer-romelu-lukaku-2077088
On Rooney Speculation:
"You know when you are playing for a team like Chelsea, there is going to be competition."
"I like competition. Obviously, if he does sign, it could be a good partnership but it is the manager's choice."
"You have to accept that you have to work hard to make it a successful squad. If he is part of our team I will welcome him with open arms."
On Himself:
"I know what the manager said - but one day that will change! He is the manager and he has a vision of the way he wants to play. The players have to improve to do that."
"I certainly have it in me. I'm confident in my qualities. I can score more goals, with my feet and head. I can get more assists. I am very quick and skillful. I can do a bit of everything."
On Mourinho:
"He is a great manager. He is very direct - and I love that."
"If he has something to say to you, he says it. That is a good thing."
"I would not say he has given me a hard time but he is very direct and in your face. I have had to work more than I ever have but I like to work."

Gary Cahill backs striker Romelu Lukaku to rock the Premier League:

"He had a great loan spell at West Brom last season and has been flying in training and scored some great goals here."
"I play against him in training a lot and he’s a handful just with his pace and power."
"He’s still a young lad, but he scored a lot of goals at West Brom. So I’m sure it’s exciting times for him and I’m sure he’s looking forward to the season."

Hopefully Jose can develop him correctly so we don't need a new CF.

I'll be all in for signing Rooney, but if we don't get him then we don't need no more strikers, it's time for lukaku to shine, me thinks lukaku will rip the primer league
