Opinions? Conte seemed to be working wonders with a resurgent Juventus, sad to hear of this

Just to clarify for others, has nothing to do with Juventus but with Siena

Re: Conte to accept 3 month ban in plea bargain over match fixing
He put Juve's needs over his personal integrity more than anything which is why he is ready to accept to the plea bargain.
He would've been banned for a year for failing to report fixing involvement(he's not involved in fixing games mind you but he was aware that fixing was taking place and sent those players to the stands who were involved in it) but this plea bargain would obviously reduce his punishment.

A shame because it's definitely going to dent our title hopes, but it's not as bad as it looks. He still gets to go to the training sessions to coach the team, he'll definitely keep in touch with the interim manager to give him some lessons, and this is where he'll be sitting during the home games:
By the way, "It's important to note that unlike in criminal law, accepting a plea bargain in a 'sporting justice' trial is not an admission of guilt. That is why Conte is likely to have been convinced by the Juve management to take the plea bargain, and guarantee himself only a 3 month ban"

Don't clutch straws, Che is right in theory but I'm happy Juventus is staying loyal with Conte, just as Del Piero was loyal to Juventus when Juventus was found to be involved in match fixing.

I said it's ridiculous because Conte's not just any coach, he's a Juve legend, and he's proved to be an excellent coach. Sacking him just because he knew about an alleged match-fixing scandal would be stupid and would never happen.

Of course but don't blame Juve this has nothing to do with them.
The charge is due to an offence Conte supposedly committed during his time at Siena.
Conte =/= Juve.

This has nothing to do with serie a, it was when he was managing Siena in the second division, first of all.
Of course I see something wrong with it, but at least he is taking steps to correcting it. He has made a plea bargain- and if more players and managers take similar deals then we could see the situation clean up rather quickly.
Serie A has been in the toilet long before Conte was managing Siena

Re: Conte to accept 3 month ban in plea bargain over match fixing
This does have to do with serie a, it has to do with all of Italian soccer....there is a toxic atmosphere regarding illegal gambling activity in Italy that just doesnt seem to exist in the other big league countries
Not exactly a secret or breaking news since Italy is corrupt anyway and this is basically par for the course, but its still obviously an important problem

Re: Conte to accept 3 month ban in plea bargain over match fixing
Conte's situation, specifically, has nothing to do with serie a.
In the context that the fixed game(s) did not occur in the first division.
In the context of Italian soccer, I agree. It's an Italian problem.
I agree with you, it's a big problem. But you guys are also looking only at the negatives.
First of all, Conte didn't agree to fix a game, he didn't partake in match fixing, he was aware and didn't act (negligence). I'm not saying this is a lesser evil but stay with me. He then accepted a plea bargain- avoiding a seemingly long process, he was probably able to offer important information regarding the events which will help the courts locate those responsible (players and those who approached them).
If more players and managers come forward for plea bargains it will make delivering justice a lot more efficient for one thing. The only way that this can be cleaned up is internally, Conte accepting a plea bargain is a good step forward for me.
