Adebayor deal off as Tottenham target demands £5m from Man City

Emmanuel Adebayor's proposed move to Tottenham is on the rocks after the striker demanded that Manchester City pay the £5million transfer fee directly to him.

The 28-year-old spent last season on loan at White Hart Lane, but he will have to take a massive cut in his £175,000-a-week salary if he were to make the move permanent.
Rather than agreeing a lower salary, Adebayor has proposed that City pay him the entirety of the £5m fee to compensate for the lower wage package he will receive at Spurs.

Adebayor had £105,000 of his weekly salary paid by Man City last season, but although they need to slash their wage bill to move in line with UEFA's Financial Fair Play regulations, the club are not prepared to be held to ransom by the Togolese.

Adebayor, who joined City from Arsenal in 2009 for £25m, netted 17 Premier League goals last season.

Spurs aren't as rich as Man City. I'm sure Spurs can get someone better than Adebayor, at least potential wise.
