Re: Terry Charged by FA
John Terry wasen't found innocent, the Judge said there was insufficient proof to categorically state he was guilty. The language used in the Judges statement strongly implies that they believed he was guilty, but not enough for their purposes. They certainly made it extremly clear that they weren't saying he was definately innocent.
The courts job isn't to prove innocence, its to prove guilt with varying burdens of proof depending on the court. In a Criminal court its beyond reasonable doubt, Civil and Tribunal cases its 'the weight of evidence'. The FA only requires probability, not definites.
To those asking Anton won't be charged by the FA because everything he said was revealed in evidence. To charge him would discourage others from coming foward in the future.

I don't see why people expect him to get the same punishment as Suarez for "committing" the same crime... he's English, he'll get away with it.

That's what many assumed, but the question being posed is why he has been charged by the FA after the courts found him not guilty. The answer is because the FA previous set a precedent showing they require less evidence to find the accused guilty.

Re: Terry Charged by FA
Lol why are so many people happy that Terry is going to be given a ban?
He's so shite that I for one would love for him to play against us. It'll give us an advantage ffs.

Couldn't care less if he's the best or worst player in the world - the FA need to fix their problems and have some consistency with what they do.
They banned Suarez for 8 games because he said "negrito" once which means "mate" in South American Spanish slang to prove a point to the other players in the league that they want to kick out racism out of football which is fine. [Both the FA AND Evra had said that Suarez wasn't a racist. Not getting into this whole debate again.]
They need to do the same to Terry to persist on that road of kicking out racism, and what better way is there to do it with former England captain and saviour John Terry?

I am sorry but what? The guy has been proven not guilty in a court of law so why does he deserve an 8 game ban?
JT has denied it anyway.
The FA doesn't need evidence like the courts.

Re: Terry Charged by FA
My favourite part is:
During this period John Terry remains available to play for England.
so hang him out to dry after a trial by media, strip of the captaincy before his trial and then punish him after a court of law found him NOT guilty but its still ok for him to play England still
honestly, JT should tell the FA to shove it

You think Suarez would have been found guilty in court, based on Evra's word? x)

Re: Terry Charged by FA
So what if he was telling the truth? Ban him anyway because you hate him?
Lol at the moron calling him a 'bad' player btw.
Amount of Hatred =/= Amount of Talent
Lol at "it would discourage players to come forward" btw? GTFO, we all know that's bollocks.
Double standards like that only encourages racism.

If you've learned anything from the past year, it should be that hatred/dislike for a player can get him banned in the absence of substantive evidence. That said, I don't actually expect Terry to get a ban from this. It's merely the FA covering themselves from criticism. This way, they can claim to have treated the Terry and Suarez cases similarly, even if they don't hand a ban to Terry. I must say, it's a very intelligent move by the FA.
(No sarcasm, I promise.)

Re: Terry Charged by FA
It certainly wasn't an intentional move by them to announce the charges against Terry on the same day as the Olympic opening ceremonies either, effectively brushing it under the media rug and saving Terry a great deal of bad publicity (on the day).

Nicely thought out, Red. I never even took note of that.RedOranje wrote:It certainly wasn't an intentional move by them to announce the charges against Terry on the same day as the Olympic opening ceremonies either, effectively brushing it under the media rug and saving Terry a great deal of bad publicity (on the day).

Re: Terry Charged by FA
Just as the FA released the big statement on Suarez at about 4 or 5pm on the final day before a long bank holiday, giving Liverpool little to no time to analyze the statement and prepare a proper response before the break.
The FA are nothing if not canny in releasing statements, even if they are incompetent in other areas.
