^That backline was GOAT. Add a prime Essien beside Makelele and it just makes you want to cry Sad

Well if the Cazorla and Sahin deals go through i would have no hesitation in calling Arsenal's midfield the best midfield in the PL even though they're missing a real DM in their starting lineup.

City is the 'logical' answer as of now though..DM-De Jong ,CM-Toure,AM-Silva..Definitely better than Chelsea's midfield no doubt..

Mikel is a million times better than Barry. Don't care if you don't rate him.

Yaya >>>>>>> Lampard these days sadly Sad

Hazard = Silva

Mata > C**tri

And they don't have an Oscar either. Very Happy

Arsenal have Song starting for them in midfield. Until they get rid of that tosser they're not in contention.

If Arsenal do sign Cazorla and Sahin they shit over everyone else.

Mata and Hazard dont count because they don't contribute anything to the middle of the pitch.

They are more forwards than they are midfielders.

Currently it is City by a distance.

Nope lol, but City's whole midfield together makes it the best as Nasri and Silva basically act as extra playmakers contributing to the midfield.

Basically it's the best midfield unit.

Using Chelsea to compare they have Oscar, Lampard and Mikel or Ramires depending on what you prefer it's good but City's is better.

Arsenal with Cazorla and Sahin would beat them all though IMO, Cazorla, Sahin and Arteta is a poor mans Busixaviesta if they ever was one but it's still f*cking GOAT and beats any other midfield in the league IMO.

But that's all ifs and buts, currently City's wins.

On what basis can one come to the conclusion that Chelsea's midfield is the best midfield in the PL ? scratch

The likes of Oscar are yet to play a competitive game for Chelsea(I mean he's still a baby with not much experience under his belt)..Lets not go that far.Hazard is a winger and Silva is way better than Mata(which is a much more apt comparison).

I would take Yaya-De Jong/Barry over Mikel-Lampard as well..

But if the Sahin ,Cazorla deals go through..

Song-Sahin-Wilshere/Arteta

Cazorla

Thats a fapworthy midfield right there..best midfield in PL definitely

Not sure they'd get both Sahin and Cazorla. They also have Wilshere to come back and there's also Ramsey, Arteta etc.

And who is going to be the destroyer if Arsenal do lineup such a midfield ?Thats a defensively fragile midfield,i definitely expect Song to be in the starting lineup with Cazorla playing as a wide AM sort of in a 4-3-3..Thats what I picture would happen..

Song will be benched if Cazorla and Sahin come and Wilshere wont be fit till god knows when.

Midfield 3 will be Arteta-Sahin-Cazorla and Walcott-Giroud-Podolski ahead of them.

Arsenal have two many wide players to play any sort of narrow system.

The reason they want Sahin on loan is because of Wilshere's injury issues i don't think they will sign him permanently.

What's fragile about it Surag? Arteta is the best DM at the club and fulfills the " busquets" role to a tee and is excellent at it, Sahin is a fantastic regista with good defensive capabilities and Cazorla is the closet thing around to Iniesta.

As in there is no real defensive presence in that midfield..And since when is Arteta is known to be a defensively capable player ?I mean he's surely not the guy that you would bank on to do the dirty work in midfield ?

Again this is the same team with no proper DM that leaked in the most goals of the top sides if i'm correct ?

lol, Arteta is fantastic defensively he was the deepest midfielder last season.

Physical presence is overrated, the reason Arsenal concede goals is a system and tactical reason more than a personnel reason.

Ask any Arsenal fan on here on how Arteta performed last season, the main reason they leaked more goals than anyone else because of the constant injuries they had.

The fact Arsenal's midfield fell apart when Arteta didn't play said it all.

Think I'll have to start blocking people who rate Song now. Laughing

What he does on the ball eg. the occasional Hollywood ball which RVP volleys in first time or the odd piece of skill, is all very well and nice but what he does off it is why he's utter turd in my eyes.

He's a shite DM.

And please stop which this "dirty work" nonsense. That's exactly why scrubs like Scott "Scotty" Parker are highly rated or Gerrard is called a great CM.

As long as your positional sense is great you don't have to make Hollywood sliding tackles to be a great defensive presence on the pitch. It's why Madrid/United can get away with Alonso/Carrick in their teams.

Arsenal currently have 0 DM's in the team.

Also City has the best midfield at the moment. It's not even a question.

Thumbs up Positional sense is always more important than physical presence and strong tackling.

DM's that rush around blowing out fires i find incredibly overrated, give me an a DM who intercepts and hardly ever out of position every day of the week.

Just because 'destroyers' are not good on the ball doesnt make them scrubs..

Khedira for example is not the greatest player attacking wise but he still gets the job done for Madrid ,what the coach asks him to do..

Every top team have atleast one destroyer in their setup..Bayern-Gustavo,Juventus-Vidal,Madrid-Khedira,Chelsea-Mikel,City-De Jong,Barcelona-Busquets,United-well i dont know if they even have a midfield..

So yeah talk all crap you want but ball winners in midfield is of perennial importance..

Maybe the search function sucks but i do remember you making a song is world class thread ,i'm unable to find it unfortunately..

Only if he's playing AM for a midtable club. Or a solid bench player.

Busquets is basically the equivalent of Arteta though.....

Vidal, Gustavo and Khedira are more b2b than DM's.

De Jong is overrated as shown by how he is benched by Barry every week.

The only one there who is actually a DM and a physical presence there and good is Mikel.

Positional sense is always much more important than physical presence.
