Patrick Bateman wrote:For those who have seen the new Batman movie.Who in your honest opinion is the better villian Bane or the Joker ?
Joker had more of a character in him as a psychopath, and he reasoned for everything he did, Bane was a straightshoot killer i guess.
so i liked joker.
if I were to compare between Heath Ledger and Tom Hardy performance, hmm i abstain... both are great actors so hard to say who is the best than one another...

Re: The Movie House
I saw The Dark Knight Rises and enjoyed it, but it didn't rise to the level of The Dark Knight or even Batman Begins (which I watched last weekend). Some of it made little sense. I thought Bane was rather bland as a villain. But overall it was an entertaining 2 3/4 hours. Anne Hathaway was awesome!

So, i was watching an old batman film recently from the 90s (one with the penguin and catwoman), and noticed some of that symbolism most people on internet assossiate with <insert conspiracy theory here>, you know, pyramids with eyes and such, any of it in the new one? i presume yes

Re: The Movie House
Saw it from a bad cinema screen with poor picture quality and sound(only bane's and catwoman's voices were audible ) but nevertheless was an amazing movie experience.
I personally rank this movie second after 'the dark knight', which i think was a much better movie.
Tom Hardy's performance was great and i believe one couldn't have done a better job at portraying bane than this one. But Ledger's Joker remains the best superhero movie villian in my books.
I liked Anne Hathaway from 'Brokeback Mountain' and expected her to deliver a classy performance which i got. Kudos to her. Also, special kudos to Josh-Gordon-Levitt, who was good.
The rest of the characters delivered exactly what were expected from them.
But they should have done a bit more work with the plot, because it was a bit off-color and 'boring' when compared to TDK in which each second of the movie was engaging. This one gets a lesser rating simply because of this.
What is to be said is that, this is a very epic 'superhero' movie. They managed to completely wrap up the batman saga in dramatic and satisfying fashion, which is a very difficult thing to do. Most franchises F**k up their sequels, but DC really nailed this one, thanks to genius Nolan and crew.
May i say again that Hans Zimmer's scores makes a movie twice as good as it already is?

Re: The Movie House
The Nolan Batman films aren't superhero movies, though, they're action/suspense. He's specifically stated he did not intend to make superhero genre films as he believed they would never been financially or critically successful. So either he's failed in implementing his vision for the movies or they aren't superhero films...

Re: The Movie House
Just watch Moonrise kingdom yesterday. Another Amazing Wes Anderson film.
I had been watching his older films just two day ago, The Royal Tenenbaums and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
i was i NYC yesterday waiting for someone so me and my friends though we should kill time by watching a movie, he had seen all the movies that were on so we decided just to try Moonrise. At that point i had no clue what it was or who it by.
But secs into the movie i knew it was by Wes Anderson, after seeing Bill Murray and his style of shooting
Anyways i recommend you guys to watch it and his other movies they are amazing comedies

Anne Hathaway performance as a catwoman ... a superheroine in this movie make Scarlett Johannsen in The Avengers look so cheap.....
The amount of effort she had to endure to become the character Nolan wanted was just unbearable apparently though it paid off. She made Batman look like an ant. Saved his life in the end.
Nolan is a demanding director, and he really knows how to get the best out of actors/actress. yea i read somewhere that Anne said both performance wise and preparation wise she had it tough but ultimately worth it.
Plus i dont think anyone could have been able to pull off the performance Anne did.
just interesting stuff i got from imdb trivia,
Angelina Jolie, Natalie Portman, Jessica Biel, Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt, Vera Farmiga, Gemma Arterton, Abbie Cornish, Eva Green, Kate Mara, Blake Lively, Charlotte Riley, Olivia Wilde and Keira Knightley all auditioned for the role of Selina Kyle. After the initial audition process, Green, Biel and Knightley all screen tested. Ultimately, Anne Hathaway won the role.
wow!!
out of that i probably would have only bear to stand Eva Green, Natalie Portman, had Anne not got the role... the rest of the biaaaaaaaches sucks... f... k blake lively....
Anne Rules!!
interestingly, some rumours surfaced that Megan Fox would get Catwoman!!! LMAO.... Classy people like Nolan would never hire or would work with lowlife like Megan Fox!!!
I would have to say Keira Knightley would have been an amazing catwoman had she been chosen.

Re: The Movie House
Watched TDKR yesterday. It was a good movie, but its far from TDK,I felt that some parts of the movie were forced out too much while in TDK and in Batman Begins everything felt natural as the story went by.Bane was kind of lame too imo The movie had the goat moments though and the story was good, but the nuclear bomb and how the problem was solved was kind of cliche.I really liked how they rapped up the saga, great ending.
I wonder if there will be a spinoff

Well, I just watched The Town. Not many people seemed too impressed over at imdb.com with Affleck hate but I really liked the movie.
Really underrated IMO. Plus the lead actress is pretty damn beautiful

Fantastic list. Covers just about everything that makes me, me lol.
Gonna watch Oldboy tonight methinks. This will be only my second venture into Korean cinema after watching the awesome "The Good, The Bad, and the Weird".
Expecting big things from this flick based on the hype I've seen on it.

Re: The Movie House
I forgot to comment on The Dark Knight Rises. I loved it! Didn't think it was as good as The Dark Knight but nonetheless it was fantastic and it was a great experience.
As a villain, I really enjoyed Bane. He really was physically and intelectually equal to Batman if not superior, I was dissapointed at his voice, it was one of the worst things in the movie, as I could only really understand 75% of what he said. Tom Hardy is a tank.
Still Heath Ledgers Joker >>>
I think everyone knew that anyway, but I still think Tom Hardy put in a helluva performance.
Red, just curious (as I'm someone who has never read the comics or is really that into superheroes or anything), where does the distinction lie between the two? What makes these films action/suspense rather than superhero movies? I understand why the movie would be classified as an action/suspense one (it is very similar if not spot on) but what makes something a superhero movie as opposed to an action film with superheros in it?
Is there little distinction, or am I missing the point of something big here?
And someone hates Pulp Fiction? I personally loved it but to each his own I guess.

I've watched it 5-6 times trying to see what people see in that movie but every time I was left facepalming myself as to how overrated that movie is. Don't get me wrong the dialogue as always left me with a smile as every Tarantino movie does in that regard, but otherwise shite movie is shite.

Just watched 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' .. Would recommend it
I thought TDKR was great, not better than the second one though.. I really liked Bane but The Joker was better, not even close.. The movie was a little over-packed though, they tried to fit a little too much in there.. Some scenes were just random
