Re: The Movie House
I loved Superman Returns, no idea why it wasn't more popular that movie was brilliant. I still need to find time to watch the Watchman, looks good. Looking foward to The Dark Knight Rises, though I fear it will be one of those overhyped movies which everyone says is good but turns out to be utter garbage, every single one of the Harry Potter suffered from this, don't know why I even listen to peoples opinions honestly. I really don't like the look of Ann Hathaway(sp?) in her role, she isn't curvy enough, should have just gotten Halle Barry or someone like that.
Note:New Spiderman=garbage, save your money.
I still havent seen The Avengers film, but a quick trip to 1channel will sort that out. Quick question, am I the only person who prefers going to the cinema alone and a few weeks after the movie has come out to avoid the packed cinema? If its a movie I like I go alone, I cant stand people talking to me when I'm into a film. If its a date I make sure we watch a crap movie so that I'm begging her to talk lol

Don't really agree with that. It was nothing special but the movie was alright... about on par with Raimi's version.
Depends on the movie, generally. If it's a serious drama I like to catch movies on my own or with others than won't talk/mess with their phones. Likewise if it's a really bad movie my friends and I tend to go a few weeks late when no-one else is there so we can riff on it. Action movies or ones I'm really looking forward to I'll catch opening night/weekend, though.

Re: The Movie House
I was probably being a bit harsh but I honestly didn't like that adaptation of spiderman, I might have just gotten used to the old guy.
I tend to go alone to the cinema if i'm going to be watching a Inception/Memento film a few weeks after its come out so that theres only a few people in there and I can watch the movie in peace. I watched one movie on opening weekend and that was The Passion of the Christ.
Only reason I went was because I thought most people won't be interested in it because of the theme so I went along with my uncle(had to, movie was an 18 I was 12 lol), and oh boy, did I get proved wrong, place was jam packed, I still enjoyed the film, but I will never go and watch a movie until its been out a week at least again.
I just prefer my own personal company when watching a film, some alone time if you will, unless, like I said, its a rubbish film so in that scenario I take a girl along lol. The last time I watched a film with a group of friends was Tron, had low expectations for it though.

Here's a brilliant list of movies...Most of these are gems.

Especially for fans of mental movies...The list is in no particular order.

Never thought a film about a superhero can be good.

Re: The Movie House
Just came home from The Dark Knight Rises premiere.
Must say it is probably the best film i have ever seen (just my opinion)
Seriously all the actors in this film made it so much better than the other ones.
Bane was such an amazing villain, almost equalling The Joker.
Biggest surprise was that Anne Hathaway, the girl who is always playing a nice and pretty girl, managed to pull off the Catwoman
Tom Hardy and Marion Cotillard

3 is too low of a number for so many favorite films of mine.
These two would definitely be in the top 3
Good Will Hunting
The Prestige
The 3rd one I just cannot choose

The Dark Knight Rises
A very good movie that falls short of the greats due to the same flaws as it's predecessor. Some clunky dialogue and big plot-holes only partially papered over by some great acting... without a performance as Ledger's level the problems are more apparent, however.
8/10 for me.

You seem to be a bit critical of movies.RedOranje wrote:The Dark Knight Rises

Anyway, I saw The Amazing Spiderman. Not bad at all but I think I like Toby Maguire better

This Spiderman looks more like a rockstar than a nerd. The MJ is a huge upgrade from the last one though.
The way it ended, I assume it'll have a sequel of its own?

8/10 for me.I honestly don't analyse movies as deeply as you lot do.

er...MJ?

And on spiderman being more of a rockstar than a nerd, he actually is very funny on the "ultimate spiderman" comics, which i think this movie was based on. He is just a genius who isnt very sociable and not that nerd type...it you know what i mean.

Ah! FFS
I just assumed she was Mary Jane as well. I didn't even pay attention
Did a little bit of googling and realised she was called Gwen.
My apologies.

Re: The Movie House
You shouldn't be afraid to go to the cinema. Yeah a shooting occurred, but not only is it in the US way far away from you guys in Japan, but it's something that just happens every once in a while (usually in the US), every couple years that is.
I don't know much about Japan, but when is the last time this happened in Japan?
You will be fine. Go and enjoy the movie.
I haven't seen it yet and will probably go to the cinema sometime this week. Although I'm telling you to go, I'm still a bit apprehensive about going now myself, but that's more about my personality than anything, I'll do it eventually though.
And it's unfortunate to hear about the big plot holes in this Batman movie, it was something that hurt the last one for me, although I thoroughly enjoyed it anyway, and I'm sure I'll enjoy this one just as much.

It is quite natural

If i hadn't read some of the comics, i wouldn't even have noticed that she was gwen...i would automatically be expecting MJ...
We have really bad theatres over here and i couldn't make out most of the dialogues...
After watching the movie, i went home and googled the plot and was like

Re: The Movie House
He still speaks in the gravelly whisper thing... it sort of makes sense in that he's supposed to be changing his voice to hide his identity but it's still annoying.
They changed Bane's voice from the early trailers, as people had trouble understanding it. It's louder and more clear now, but the volume sounds a bit unnatural.
@Barrett:
I adore movies. I love movies. I watch movies almost every chance I get, so I have a lot of experience with them to compare and contrast, as such I do tend to pick up on things others may not. I am also a rather serious and critical person by nature. My friends and family will attest to that. That said, bring critical isn't always the same thing as "hating on"... As I said it's still a very good movie despite it's flaws, just as The Dark Knight was. 8/10 is a very high rating and honestly some of my all-time favourites are lower ratings (IMO, obviously) than TDK and TDKR. It's still worth catching in theaters and I'm sure there are many that will say it's a 9 higher. I just personally feel it was let down by it's directing and writing, a bit.

Fair enough. I do admire people that pick out things like that in movies. Especially things I wouldn't normally notice.
