I know on other forums I go on, admins and moderators can change a username's rank from First Team to their own rank, such as 'I like Twisties' or 'Hala Madrid' something because of being a active, good behaved, top quality poster on the forum. I don't know whether the admins may be allowed to do this or not though imo its encourages more quality posting from users. Instead of trying to post quantity and get to being a World Class Contributor like Nick or Mole, you can achieve being a quality writer (not saying that Mole and Nick try to post quantity than quality ).

Thats my point. Its only a joke. The main point is about gaining quality posters and thats a way. Users don't decide, mods do through what they reckon is quality posting...

your rank does change though. It depends on the number of posts.

For example yours is First Team as u have 1017 posts, mole has 10k posts and his rank is World Class Contributor

I guess what Im trying to say, is that it provides a better view of what a forum is about. Not spam, but quality posting. To encourage quality posting, mods allow user ranks to be changed for those quality posters. Other users see this and will be encouraged to post quality to help them get their way to having a rank title changed.
I also find users are just trying to post quantity to get to being a First Team rank or World Class Contributor so they try to troll to get their way to being that rank. Why not make their job easier if they change their approach to posting quality instead of quantity.

You can give or take some posts, but for the most part that's how I see it. As Legend said, nobody cares about their rank or whatever anyway. It's very easy to say that stuff can motivate people, but in reality I don't think it does at all, especially if it's a couple small words next to your avatar.
