Re: Club most associated with a foreign nation.
Catania has 12 Argentine players in their current squad alone, let alone history
Also, FC Ramos is most associated with Brazil

Re: Club most associated with a foreign nation.
I won't argue the clubs already mentioned are much more associated with a particular country, BUT I can say Arsenal have a fair number of French players over the years... maybe has something to do with the manager? lol...
Re: Club most associated with a foreign nation.
We have had shed loads of Irish players at Sunderland, at one point we had like 90% of the national team here.
Shame the majority of them were crap

Re: Club most associated with a foreign nation.
One of them
He really was terrible though, very similar to Heskey. Except he couldn't kick the ball. Would always try and header it before kicking it.
The ball could be rolling towards him on the ground and he would dive down and try head it to make a clearence.
Weirdly enough though we did have a class FA cup run with him in the side and got to the semis.

Re: Club most associated with a foreign nation.
Barcelona and Dutch players. Michels came in first, changed the model, Cruyff came in again, introduced ducth philosophy and dutch youth system schemes. Van Gaal had so many dutch players that some of the catalan players complained to Laudrup saying it feels like a foreing club. (laudrup went to visit his old friends and asked btw). Dutch model, dutch innovation, ducth football. Dutch people called themsleves foreign catalans as a sign of affection.

I do remember the dutchees. I became a barca fan in 1999 (when I was about 9) thanks to fifa when the era was in full swing.CBarca wrote:As pointed out just once, when I think of Barca, I do remember on that Dutch generation. We've had a fair few amount of Netherlands players come here. Not too many in the recent years though.
Inter has a thing with Argentinians don't they?

People think I am serious about Bilbao
Chelsea are gaining a lot of brazillians but haven't really had any country dominate the team list.
Luiz
Ramires
Piazon
and maybe
Maicon
Hulk
Oscar
Previous:

Deco is Portugese.
He is born in Brazil and raised in Brazil and only moved to Portugal when he was 19. He may not play for Brazil but he is Brazilian.
