Keita leaves after four years at the Club, having won a total of 14 titles

Seydou Keita has announced this evening that he won’t be staying at the Club next season.

FC Barcelona thanks Seydou Keita for his services to the Club over the years and wish him professional and personal success in the future

Four years, fourteen titles

Seydou Keita is leaving Barça after four years at the Club which have seen him win 14 titles. Keita wore the number 15 shirt under Pep Guardiola and in his time at the Club won three league titles, two Champions Leagues, two Spanish Cups, two World Club Cups, three Spanish and two European Super Cups.

Looking forward to the team without him and see Thiago replace his role.

Does this mean JDS or Sergio Roberto get a spot in the first team? Do we get money for him or is it a free transfer?

We only ever criticized him when he was crap or did not deserve to be in...or was a tactical mistake. Which, guess what? Are normal reasons to criticize a player.

Keita was criticized because he played way too many minutes for how average he was, and was the reason for some losses/setbacks.

Why do some people seem to think the Barcelona board is stupid? Criticize a player for a random/weird reason? The posters here are much smarter than that.

Anyway,

Do we get money for him or is it a free transfer?

Not 100% sure on this, but didn't he have a clause that lets him go free for not featuring in 50% of the matches the past year? I'm pretty sure he is going for free.

And I do hope JDS is promoted. It would be a shame if that were not so.

Nobody ever said we lost because of him or scapegoated him. He was simply criticised as being not needed and getting in the way of our talents.

All joking aside though, he's been very good for us. I am gratefull for what he contributed and it wasn't until Masche came and Thiago got to play in first team when he really became pretty much obsolete. So thank you Keita for your hard work, dedication and humble attitude in these years you have been with us.

But on a more serious note, I am grateful for his years of selfless service and playing his role with no complaints.

Its a shame my thoughts of him will always be him playing far too much because of Pep's strange love for him.

But I wish him the best and players like him, selfless and hard working are a blessing.

I was about to post a message to wish Keita all the best but this post pretty much says everything already.

So grateful that Kieta has gone. 15 million was too much for someone so average especially for the last 2 seasons. Thiago and JDS now have to step into his shoes. La Masia!

Thats how much we made him... though according to reports we lowered his salary... Hope we did...

One of my favorite Barca players. Deserves credit for what he did there.
