Re: Courtois vs De Gea vs Szczęsny
Judging from performances with Athletico De Gea easily.
Guy is amazing, one of the most talented shot stoppers I have ever seen, regularly makes ridiculous saves, has Casillas like quality.
Ever since the under 17 world cup you could just tell this guy was special.

I'd say De Gea, however the others have a lot of potential too.

If you're asking who is the best young keeper than it's Ter Stegen for me imo. Had a better season than Neuer which isn't a easy feat at all.
Of all those three tough De Gea edges it for me. Very talented goalkeeper.

Re: Courtois vs De Gea vs Szczęsny
Well, I hope BMG will get through the CL qualification. Then we could admire Marc-André ter Stegen properly in the CL!
Which reminds me - Schalke currently have 3 keepers who fight it out for the Nr.1 spot: Ralf Fährmann (23), Lars Unnerstall (21) and the "oldie" Timo Hildebrand. Before their injuries, both Fährmann and Unnerstall didn't look too shabby, either, and with Schalke in the CL I hope they will have a great international season, too.
By the way, Dortmund's 2nd keeper Mitch Langerak is one with quite some promise, too. He is widely considered to become Mark Schwarzer's proper heir.

Re: Courtois vs De Gea vs Szczęsny
Fährmann is awesome, Unnerstall did well, too.
But Leno, Zieler, and ter Stegen all have a legitimate claim to be better keepers than the ones the OP mentioned.
Not that it's necessarily true, I'm just saying they deserve to be in the running.

Ter Stegen is really the best. Outshined Neuer this season.

BTW, I really hate the fact that so many people always have to try and put the label "the best" on one single player when it would be far more sensible to simply enjoy the fact that there are so many brilliant youngsters around that all deserve to be admired!

Re: Courtois vs De Gea vs Szczęsny
De Gea gets owned by height time after time again but has insane reflexes and an oustanding vertical leap.
Courtois is the most rounded and reliable of the trio.
Szczesny is a scrub and got exposed last season. Lacks any skill whatsoever.
Haven't seen much of Ter Stegen so can't comment on him.

Szczesny, Curtois and De Gea?
I choose De Gea.The reasons were given by other users in this thread.
Ter Stegen is fabulous, he may be better than De Gea .

Re: Courtois vs De Gea vs Szczęsny
Have to agree those saying Ter Stegen is the best.
1. Ter Stegen
2. De Gea
3. Guaita (He's not as young as the rest, but fairly young at 25)
4. Szczesny/Courtois
5. Leno/Fahrmann/Zieler
6. Sommer/Unnerstall/Butland
Butland I haven't really seen much of, except the Olympics, but he looked good for team GB.

Re: Courtois vs De Gea vs Szczęsny
I think absolute rankings are usually not really a sensible thing. I mean, why would you put De Géa comparatively far above Sommer, if you consider that last year both were voted into the UEFA U21 Team of the tournament for a reason and the latter normally normally is the reason that Basel don't get taken apart one after the other time? If it is one or the other individual mistake - that can happen, and de Géa had those, too. Heck, not even Neuer or Buffon or Casillas are 100% error free!Messiah "Aggerswagger" wrote:Have to agree those saying Ter Stegen is the best.

Re: Courtois vs De Gea vs Szczęsny
Just one mans opinion. Mostly it has to do with me watching more of de Gea than Sommer (in fact I've watched Yann only 4 times, twice vs. Bayern, once vs. ManU, and his debut internationally). Really from a personally point view, going with what I've seen of these guys, I would say my ranking is pretty accurate.

Re: Courtois vs De Gea vs Szczęsny
Well, I have watched almost all Basel matches since February this year, so I'm probably a bit biased in the other directionMessiah "Aggerswagger" wrote:Just one mans opinion. But my point is more that it is a bit weird to actually give absolute rankings as it is hard to rank class and form is notoriously variable ^^
