Haha I remember the last thread like it was yesterday. As much as I wish he doesn't do it, I think he'll score 80+ goals next season but Barca's play suffer as a result.

I don't see how he would be able to, at least statistically, have a better season. Hopefully Barca's forward line will not be perpetually injured so he won't have to be the sole outlet for goals. That being said if we define seasons in titles then quite possibly.

Wouldn't bet much against it, that being said Barca might try to cut the reliance on Messi. Villa will be back too.
But Messi is just out of this world. maximum respect.

Re: Will Messi 25 beat Messi 24?
You mean goals or actual skill?
Skill obviously yes, (24 + 1) > 24
Goals is not dependent on messi alone.

Skill wise I think he still would improve, he's still young maybe he's just about to peak.
With goals every season I always think he'll never beat his tally the season before but I've been wrong since 08-09.

Re: Will Messi 25 beat Messi 24?
Depends on how you define 'beating'
I would say if Barca wins anything of note this upcoming season, it will have been a better year for Messi. Statiscally i don't think he will do better, seems unlikely, since Barca have to get more effort from other players than Messi in order to win a trophy that means something

Re: Will Messi 25 beat Messi 24?
Team wise, I don't think winning the league or CL would be the reason to call him better. Only if he carries team to those accolades like he did this year in league to 2nd and CL SF. Winning in football is a team achievement, and if others carrie you more, you are not really better by default because of it.Freeza wrote:Depends on how you define 'beating'

Skill wise there could be improvement, but I think there definitely will be improvement physically and mentally. "Football brain" also will continue to better still many years.
Now the end product part (stats), if Villa/Pedro/Sanchez/Fabregas axel can get their shit together, it could mean that Messi will score less, but at the same time he will assist more. This year in Barca 73+36 = 109 G+A could change to something like 60+50 =110 G+A which would be better. Although there is 3 less games to play by default.

I think so. Barca became worse, created less and Messi became more marked. Yet he became even more ruthless and decisive, and without injury would have easily scored more. He also perfected penalties (hammers them now) and added free kicks to his repertoire without loosing anything.
I don't know what he can add to his game anymore though.

Don't think so. He'll have Neymar to release some of the pressure of his shoulders.
But who knows. He's a freak and anything is possible.

I can't really say he was better this season considering the fact he had more injuries so its difficult to compare.

Start using his right foot? Score more from distance? Perform a sliding tackle?
He is the best player I've seen, but that doesn't mean he is a complete player. In fact, he is quite some way off it and there's still plenty he could add to his game. The question is does he really need it or will he just focus on getting even better at what he is the best in the world.

He could improve his passing creativity. 90 % of his defense-splitting passes are the same throughballs inbetween the rightback and centerback. Scrub La Liga defenders can't deal with it. Big teams are easily blocking that passing lane though. Has been irking me for a while now. Guess he'll improve on that once he drops deeper though.

Re: Will Messi 25 beat Messi 24?
He uses his right foot all the time, and can score further than any other player, and score 25+ yards screamers easily if that's what you meant, and make a sliding tackle if needed.Clandestino wrote:Harmonica wrote:I think so. Messi does all kinds of passes all the time, easily the most creative passer there is. Don't know what games have you been watching.futbol wrote:He could improve his passing creativity. 90 % of his defense-splitting passes are the same throughballs inbetween the rightback and centerback. Re: Will Messi 25 beat Messi 24?
That video kinda shows what I mean. He has mastered the throughball inbetween centerback and rightback. That's not overly "creative" passing though. It's the same type of passing pattern to the left winger. Osasunas and Deportivos of the world can't deal with it. Proper teams can.
You are collecting Messi gifs. Can you upload his defensive-splitting passing against:
Milan first leg (0-2)
Milan second leg (4-0)
PSG first leg (2-2)
Real Madrid CdR first leg (1-1)
Real Madrid CdR second leg (1-3)
Real Madrid La Liga first leg (2-2)
Real Madrid La Liga second leg (1-2)
Real Madrid Supercopa first leg (3-2)
I don't remember anything special in terms of passing in those games.

Umm, what is more creative pass from deep, half line than defense splitting through pass on ground, or above?
Yeah, Messi doesn't create every single game he plays shocker. Nobody does.

Re: Will Messi 25 beat Messi 24?
That's actually great point you made about Barca's game, or singling out of games.
Here's 2nd leg Supercopa against Madrid, which Barca would have won, if either of these would have been scored.
Then one of the matches against Madrid, don't remember which, where Iniesta played wide, and there was no movement and nobody to pass. Everybody just waiting graciously Messi to dribble himself past everybody.
If only Messi had Messi to score those passes. Well hopefully Neymar can provide some of that next season.
