Re: Barcelona Stealing Talent
It is no good when players that young can be lured away by bigger clubs. As if the Spanish TV revenue sharing wasn't bad enough, that disparage goes right through to youth academies, too, it seems.

1- Completely contrary to what the OP claims, every big team in the world can lure talents because of better status and higher wages.
2- England has advantages on signing professional contracts to individuals aged 16 or above while in the rest of EU and the world the age is 18.
3- Spanish sports TV rights are so ridiculously dispersed between teams that Barcelona and Real Madrid automatically get an astronomic financial advantage over other teams.
4- Teams like Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are bigger threats to equality in football with the sort of money they spend.
5- Blame capitalism.
David de Gea "stolen" from Atlético Madrid
Rafael "stolen" from Fluminese
Rio Ferdinand "stolen" from Leeds United
Nemanja Vidić "stolen" from Spartak Moskow
Patrice Evra "stolen" from Monaco
Tom Cleverley "stolen" from Bradford
Ashley Young "stolen" from West Ham
Wayne Rooney "stolen" from Everton
Michael Carrick "stolen" from West Ham
Nani "stolen" from Sporting CP
et al

Just for reference and for people who do not know much about Spain, that statement is absolute bull.Schweini wrote:No wonder Spanish people outside of Catalunya hate them
Stole Messi and drugged him? If it wasn't for Barcelona, you would never get to watch this man play. There are plenty of other things you can rightfully accuse Barcelona for, but not this. Unless you want to look like an idiot.Divine Intervention wrote:Is anyone surprised by thsi club anymore? How many of United's talents are originally from your youth academy?jibers wrote:

If hating someone due to their culture/race isn't racism then good luck with life.Schweini wrote:and everyone of them hated Barcelona...except the 2 lads who were Catalans.

It's not called stealing if you pay 10s of millions for each player...and none of those players expect Cleverley is considered a Man U talent
David de Gea "stolen" from Atlético Madrid (paid 17mil for 20 year gk)
Rafael "stolen" from Fluminese (3mil)
Rio Ferdinand "stolen" from Leeds United (30mil)
Nemanja Vidić "stolen" from Spartak Moskow (7mil)
Patrice Evra "stolen" from Monaco (5.5mil)
Tom Cleverley "stolen" from Bradford (when he was 11)
Ashley Young "stolen" from West Ham (15-20m to Aston Villa)
Wayne Rooney "stolen" from Everton (26mil)
Michael Carrick "stolen" from West Ham (14mil to Spurs)
Nani "stolen" from Sporting CP (25mil)
none of them were stolen Man U paid the fair if not overpaid for all their players
and none of them are Considered Man U youth/Talents

Jesus. They hated them (especially the guys from Valencia) bcuz they thought Barca always bullies Valencia's academy and other teams. They hated Real too, but less so, as they believed at least they always pay the right price if they want someone and won't go sneaky through it.
I didn't agree with them, but that's what 90% of non-Catalan Spanish people I know believed in.

Those boys are home grown Valencians. Playing there since they were very young and Barca comes and offers them better facility + money +
This mate of mine used to play for Valencua u-16 6-7 years ago and he played against Thiago...and punched him during a game

Re: Barcelona Stealing Talent
I understand but this is the world of football. It’s no more “illegal” than Arsenal luring players from la Masia etc.
If the club wants to secure its players they should do something about it. And maybe the homegrowns should feel a little more connected to their home team. Other than that I think every big club does that at some point. No need to exaggerate no matter how the “evil Barca” is the last 4 years hype

Double standards
Wenger "kidnapped" Cesc, but Barcelona fans thinks this is a fair deal
AKA double standards and Wenger is officially a MILF lover

The only double standards here are people complaining about this.
Barca are the ones to complain about this issue, more so than anyone else.

I understand their frustration. Their club has gone through hell lately, trying to get rid of debt, lost their stars...and now that they are prdocing quality players within their own academy, they get poached by big guns.
It's easy for us to sit here and say, well that's football. it happens. But when you support team of your city, attend every single home game, and go to most European Away games, it creates a much stronger connection with the team that even the relatively small stuff like this drives you mad.
Still, Nou Mestalla is expected to be ready in 1.5 years, so hopefully that'll help them grow.
