Agger Agger Agger bla bla bla, how about Badstuber..?

Badstuber was the best CB defender on the pitch in all of the 3 matches played and of course he was followed by Hummels and next to them is Agger.

You just simply have to look at how many goals they conceded.

lol ffs. Agger is playing next to Kjaer, Jacobsen and Poulsen. He doesn't have the luxury of Hummels, Lahm, Coentrao, Bruno Alves, Boateng that Pepe and Badstuber have.

He should be in team of the tournament ffs.

Not exactly, he was not very good in his first game, made that silly mistake with Balo, and was very off on some chances and his partnership with Pique was not good.

Against Ireland he had nothing to do, Ireland is rubbish. Let's see how he handles Jelavic and Mandzukic.

THose other guy have performed in every game so far, and against top opposition as well.

well you included Hummels who in the first game was just as bad, along with Badstuber, one "average" doesn't change anything really, Ramos has been great, he made everything he could do, not his fault Busquits is shite

Yeah Hummels was excellent against Portugal, not hard i know, but still played well and composed, and the same against Holland.

I love Ramos but he had a stinker in his first game and it's ok to admit it. Spain defending as a whole cant be blamed on him ofc, but he hasnt been the most assured presence back there for Spain. He is at fault when he is not tightly marking his man, or hesitating too much to clear the ball. Against Ireland he had nothing to do, i cant put that against him but it's a reality.

we will wait for tonight's game, but even if we were to establish a top 5 ranking of CBs in this tourney as of now, the stinker vs Italy disqualifies him already, because there are other CBs that stood out for their teams on all 3 games. Doesnt mean he is not a great defender, but he is not having the best tourney so far.

Ramos is still a noob CB for Spain. He has done great for Madrid but that doesn't mean he'd be a great CB for all teams. He has to carry Pique of course eco smile

Pepe (bar crosses for whatever reason) has been a beast, he has yet to lose any kind of duel, he's been ridiculously good.

i thought Portugal had one of their better games against Germany, easily could have added one or two goals to their names...

I think with a better forward they could've scored, they created many chances through the middle I thought, put it this way if i was a new fan to football i would not call him good based on that game, he obviously was alot better against Holland and i thought the whole defence were abit shaky against Denmark as well

@Nick, well it was inevitable that Ramos didnt have his best game in the first game, VDB's formation set them up for counter attacks quite nicely, the fact that it lacked a forward meant that Spain attacked in number but defended with few player, Italy constantly faced 3 Spanish defenders all the time i say 3 b/c Alba is shockingly bad, it was usually 3/4 vs 3 it was expected that they would struggle, imho if they had started the same formation as they had started against Ireland i don't think they would have struggled as much as they did in the first game

I dont disagree, but i also have to judge him by what he does and what he doesnt do. If he makes mistakes on his own and is culpable of poor defending, we have to say it. It's mitigated by the fact that the system and Alba left him open, but it's still a bit of a stinker.

On the other hand, i wont shower guys like Hummels and Badstuber as much as some do because their teams defend a lot better as a whole, and it's al;ways easier to double team an attacker than to go on 1v1 against him. But even then, they have looked more assured in my opinion.

I give more credits to guys like Agger and Pepe who are in suspect teams and have to carry a lot on their own.
