Will Italy get 2004ed again ?
Italy 0-0 Denmark
Sweden 5-0 Bulgaria
Italy 1-1 Sweden
Denmark 2-0 Bulgaria
Italy 100000000000-0 Bulgaria
Sweden 2-2 Denmark
-------
Sweden and Denmark through.
Same scenario could happen here. Croatia and Spain draw 2-2 or higher on last day, and Italy are eliminated regardless.

Italy goes through if they win and Croats lose.
Italy goes through if they win by more than 2 goals and Croats tie.
Italy does not go through if they lose or if Croats in.

Sadly, Italy in that same situation once again.
If Spain-Croatia ends in 2-2 draw, Italy will be sent home even if they ship 9000 goals past Ireland.

Tie-breaking criteria
If two or more teams are equal on points on completion of the group matches, the following criteria are applied to determine the rankings (according to paragraphs 8.07 and 8.08 of the regulations, and amendment to 8.07 adopted by the UEFA Executive Committee):[38][39]
Higher number of points obtained in the matches played between the teams in question;
Superior goal difference resulting from the matches played between the teams in question (if more than two teams finish equal on points);
Higher number of goals scored in the matches played between the teams in question (if more than two teams finish equal on points);
If, after having applied criteria 1 to 3 to more than two teams, two teams still have an equal ranking, criteria 1 to 3 are reapplied exclusively to the matches between the two teams in question to determine the final rankings of the two teams. If this procedure does not lead to a decision, criteria 5 to 10 apply in the order given;
Superior goal difference in all group matches;
Higher number of goals scored in all group matches;
If two teams which are tied in all criteria 1 to 6 play their last group match against each other (i.e., the result is a draw and the two teams have the same number of points, goal difference and goals scored), and provided no other teams within the group have the same number of points, the ranking of the two teams in question is determined by penalty shoot-out. Otherwise, criteria 8 to 10 apply in the order given;
Position in the UEFA national team coefficient ranking system;
Fair play conduct of the teams (final tournament);
Drawing of lots.
Note: As all teams have different UEFA national team coefficient, the last two tie-breakers (fair play conduct and drawing of lots) will never be applied in this tournament.

Re: Will Italy get 2004ed again ?
I don't understand why Italy wouldn't go through if Croatia gets a 2-2 and Italy has a higher goal difference (ie: beats Ireland 3-0, 4-1, etc). Can someone clear this up for me?
Edit: alright that link cleared it up for me. The situation is tricky indeed. Still think Spain will beat the Croats though.

Ireland does not count for the goal difference, only goals between the teams involved in the tie breaking. So since all the teams involved have only ties between them goal difference of all three is zero. So it goes to total goals scored by the three teams involved in the tie break.

Do you think Italy is out from Euro?
I can see Spain and Croatia Arrange a draw to save both teams and Italy out
So disappointing for me because i simply lose interest If Italy gets out , i know Other teams might play well but i dont like to be a neutral viewer and simply i do not like any other team to cheer for them .

Italy control their own future...
If they can score 5-0 vs Ireland, no matter what happens in the next match, they can go through...
Spain win,lose or a Draw...
It's just a matter of if the strikers will get serious & put away their chances!

Re: Will Italy get 2004ed again ?
Why would Spain 'do a deal' with Croatia? They will want to put them to the sword and gain some momentum. Spain will win, all you have to do is win your own game against the worst team in the comp. Ridiculous reason to lose faith.

I don't see Spain settling for anything less than a win against Croatia. They want to prove they are still the best team in the world

This game almost single handedly drove Cassano over the edge.
I trust Spain to perform against Croatia, they're a champion team and one doesn't maintain that status by drifting through a tournament, they'll do what they try to do every time they step out onto the pitch, drive them into the ground.
Ireland are fully capable of upsetting us, we need to focus entirely on this result not on things that we can't control in the other match.

Nice free kick and then nothing else. They should have went out and fully attacked Croatia instead of that crap they pull every time they score first. 2006 they had a team designed to win ugly and it worked an props to them. This year they plain and simply suck!
