Tension in the Spain camp has risen just days before the start of Euro 2012 thanks to Barcelona star Xavi claiming that Real Madrid have not been sporting in defeat over the past few years.
The influential midfielder feels that the Blaugrana have always behaved respectfully towards their rivals, but feels that the Liga champions did not show the same courtesy.
"We congratulated them when they won, that is sport at the end of the day. We have been very respectful with them, however, I have noted that it wasn't the same in reverse," Xavi stated in an interview to Canal+.
The 32-year-old went on to express his surprise at the departure of Pep Guardiola as Barcelona coach at the end of the 2011-12 campaign, but added that Barca are keen to go on to win more titles under new trainer Tito Vilanova.
"I was very surprised by Pep leaving, but when he explained it all to us, you understand.
"The appointment of Tito also surprised me, mostly because of what had happened with his illness, but looking at the decision, I think it was treated in the best way possible.
"This team has to continue winning titles for a few more years, and we don't have to change the form of coaching."
Barcelona won the Spanish Supercopa, European Super Cup, Club World Cup and Copa del Rey in 2011-12.

Sounds like someone who is Butthurt imv. His comment on Guardiola is very interesting, does he think now that he is gone they are not good enough to challeng Madrid atleast.

How is he creating more problems? He is confirming what Bosque's has said but believes it is Madrid players causing it, the better question is, is it really hard to believe?

Yeah, Xavi is stupid to stoke up potential tensions in the Spanish squad just to get a point over Madrid, even though its a completely baseless comment. This guy just never stops, I mean, he really thinks he is humble and respectful but we are animals

I'd say it's a legitimate conclusion on his part.
Anyway irresponsible from Xavi, this is not the time for the divulgance of these particular types of opinions, Madrid and Barcelona don't exist right now, only Spain does, inexcusable, even if the reporter asked him the question he simply should have had no comment.

its xavi , he wont budge from making idiotic statements like these.. but whats truly moronic is that he is making it during the euros, days away from a tournament where spain are massive favorites and need all the unity within the squad they can get..

You know cruyff used to cause problems with people because he thought conflicts set the mind sharp. Like the 74 world cup, he caused some disharmony by complaining about some stupid stuff to make everyone realise what an opportunity they had

It is better to create a sort of controversy with a common enemy, for example what Sneijder and Van Bommel have been trying to do with regards to Robben and Bayern Munich. To get the whole team riled up against something is smart, but not so very smart to make a complete rift between the two most important elements of your team.
