So i am going to start analyzing goalkeeper's performances in games. This is for me to learn more about goalkeeping. (and for any other goalkeepers on this forum, if there are any). I will continue to do this so that I can learn and analyze goalkeepers.

U.S. Goalkeeper: Kendall McIntosh

Distribution: 10. McIntosh's distribution was solid throughout, whether he was playing the ball on the ground or clearing it long. One of his goal kicks in the beginning went straight to his player in the Uzbek half.

Communication: 8. Did a good job of setting up his wall at free kicks and telling instructions at corners, would also liked to see him talking to his teammates more besides free kicks and corners.

Shot-Stopping: 7. Nothing the keeper could do about the first goal, but he could have saved the penalty. He guessed and overdove, usually keepers don't dive that far when the guees and are able to save those shots with their legs. McIntosh had a good save from a free kick that went to his near post and he pushed it out for a corner. Another shot from the top of the 18 was just over McIntosh and the goal, but he would have saved it if it was any lower.

1v1: N/A. Not any 1 v 1's at all for McIntosh, the long ball that led to the PK landed in the 18, but his defender was right on the Uzbekistan player.

Positioning: 6. Sometimes when there were shots from the 18, McIntosh was at 7 yards. He could easily be chipped, he should have been on his six yard or even only 5 yards out from his goal.

Catching: 10. Held on to easy shots that were straight at him.

Crossing: 10. Didn't have many to deal with, but was solid when called upon.

Overall: 7.5 Could've saved the penalty kick if he hadn't dived so far or if he hadn't guessed, and his positioning was questionable at times. Other than he was solid throughout and had great distribution.

Uzbekistan Goalkeeper Ganisher Kholmodourov

Distribution: 9.5 Didn't touch the ball too many times, but his kicks always went far down the field, one time too far.

Communication: 7.5 Didn't see much of him talking besides on corner kicks and free kicks, would like to see him talking more to his defenders.

Shot-stopping: N/A Didn't have a lot of shots to deal with, the ones he did were easy and well held

1 v 1: N/A The 1 v 1 he faced was when the U.S. foward had the ball on the top of the box, the uzbek goalie was at the six and nearly saved it.

Positioning: 10 Was well positioned on crosses and free kicks, and his positioning was excellent when the U.S. scored.

Catching: 8 His catching was good from shots, but on crosses sometimes it wasn't up to par.

Crosses: 5 Looked shaky on crosses, one time he punched the ball but it didn't go far away, and a few times the ball went over him when he came out.

7: Didn't really have much to deal with at all, his major problem in the game was dealing with crosses.

So that's it for the first analysis!

Uzbekistan have some nice youth coming through. Hopefully, they'll push the other Central Asian nations to do the same.

The only guy I've seen from Uzbekistan is Shatskikh.
