Re: euro 2012 discussion thread
why do people believe germany could win? they r like bayern big game losers. second place as always says my head. denmark on the other hand. they could make a greece 2012.

Re: euro 2012 discussion thread
correct, "second place as always" brought Germany six major tournament wins. clearly a choker mentality right there.
the mighty Denmark are way ahead of them of course and could easily win it, given the huge parallels between them and Greece during the EC2004.

Re: euro 2012 discussion thread
look Im talking about current generation. lahm or schweinsteiger they played in a final and semi final in past 6 years. if a team fails repeatedly to win something the mentality isnt ok.
current germany is like full bayern lineup without ozil, podolski and with bad left defender. hardly better than bayern imo. I say they will go far as always then 2nd place or out in semi final.

Re: euro 2012 discussion thread
i think most german NT players showed a good performance yesterday, apart from schweinsteiger and gomez i guess. A striker like Gomez can be taken out of a game at times, that can happen. Lahm and Neuer were great. The main actors were rather Olic and Robben...

Re: euro 2012 discussion thread
I really have to say that anyone comparing Denmark and Greece beyond the fact that we are underdogs are ridiculous. Denmark has outplayed Portugal a couple of times in the last few years, we never park the bus, and we play football in an attacking way unlike greece in 2004. Not taking anything away from Greece, but other than the underdog status, there is no similarities between them

denmark and greece are at the same level
not similar since one side is defenive the other attacking
but still same level
but really i cant see them going through max 3rd place and still doupt it

Greece... You're only there because of the random srappy set piece (paid-for) goal against us in the last minute of injury time

Re: euro 2012 discussion thread
Spain if FIRM favourites. After CHL final I am convinced that this German generation is a bunch of loosers although they have fantastic talents & gems in almost every position.
They have a made a habit of Coming 2nd/3rd. 4 Internation Tournaments & 2 CHL's in the last 10 years.
Holland have a good chance. It just depends on how the defend holds firm & Bert's selection.
Huntelaar must start at all costs & we need Robben & Sneijder to FIRE because frankly without those 2 Firing we wont even get out of the groups. It sucks but we are VERY VERY dependent on those 2.
And hopefully RVP is not invisible in the big games.

Better hope for Holland that Robben doesn't bottle it again... He seems to make a habit of that recently, too

Re: euro 2012 discussion thread
germany or italy. Spain looks crappy right now, netherland is lacking form (sneijder the master, robben the choker, maybe RVP can perform but...), france is meh...ribery and sagna are having problems. Benzema is on form, but they haven't had that force since WC. portugal - nani isn't in form, C. Ronaldo sucks at international stage unlike clubs. And ofc, england will ever win?

He missed a penalty. Big Deal. Anyways his 2010 WC Final miss was bad. However he has played well in all big games. So thats not a major worry.
Against England he single handedly won the match. Robben is very much loved in Holland by the fans,team-mates & the media does not wage a war him. No way staring if he tries solo runs or does not track back.
BVM has all out trust on him. Which is why he plays very well for Holland. I cant remember the last time he had a bad game for Holland.
RVP is way bigger worry. England game, whole of World Cup,Euros 2008 against Russia. Friendlies,Qualifiers against Finland & list goes on. He is Invisible.
He has a reputation of a serial choker,I dont blame him Arsenal are used to fight for 3rd & 4th place, then in the WC when he faces Brazil he looks visibly scared.
Which is why Huntelaar scores way more, far less talented but Winning Mentality,he can break his nose or get a concussion then he will come back hard the next game.

Not just one penalty. Remember the last BL match against Dortmund? There he additionally missed a sitter, too.Kingofeverythingclassy wrote:He missed a penalty. Big Deal. no we are only here cause we have one of the best defences in the tournament at the moment dont forget half of the qualification games we missed importand defenders and we conceded only 5 goals in 10 games cmon like spain conceded more goals in a group with 2 lesser games rofl which also included "Liechtenstein"
attacking wise we suck, at least we got ninis for a good cross
but trust me it wont be easy to beat our defence whoever the opponent is
anyway im just joking arround but we can pull out a qualification for the round of 16..
portugal will take it

Yea he missed another penalty. And he scored 13 out of 15 penalties for Bayern. And he was notably shaken after the miss & did not expect the ball to come to him.
EVeryone misses sitters & penalties. Bastian did in the shoot out. Gomez missed half a dozen penalty.
Can you imagine what pressure was on his in Madrid when he scored the penalty. If he would have missed them his career in serious problem mentally. And Remember Gomez Austria Euros?? Haha
Atleast he shows up in Big Games for the NT generally & performs well. With RVP you can feel he is scared. Huntelaar is No Non-Nonsense ST,he will score of keep trying. RVP just fades if he cant do somthing great.
Anyways Best of Luck to Germany too.

Re: euro 2012 discussion thread
Well, I'd wish that Robben would recover soon because Bayern needs him at 100% for the next season, too. IMO the problem is that he had some bad failures within a short time and that definitely will have shaken his confidence.
After all, I would love for Germany and the Netherlands to meet in the final (is that even possible? I'd have to check the match setup of the Euro to be sure)

Re: euro 2012 discussion thread
I think Robben is mentally very strong. His constant history of injuries is something hard to bear. But he puts those past & comes up with something great every time.
And he had the balls to go after the penalty against Real after missing against Dortmund & then went the same side against Dortmund in the CUP final as he missed.
This will shake him though. 3 Major Final Losses in 2 years. But he will be back as will the rest. Nerlinger just confirmed that Pizarro is our 3rd ST & a Bomb will come too. We are throwing Big Money to Add Quality Depth in all areas. Bayern will be a HUGE European & Domestic force for years to come. And Guardiola is leaving Barca & we obviously have Madrid's number.
I cant see any reason why we cant get to the finals again in the next 2-3 years. The next final is in Wembley, how sweet will it be to beat Chelsea there??

Frankly, I'd like that a lot. But first, Bayern needs to get there. But then - why not?Kingofeverythingclassy wrote:I cant see any reason why we cant get to the finals again in the next 2-3 years. The next final is in Wembley, how sweet will it be to beat Chelsea there??

No you aren't SMH, you are there because of that goal. If you hadn't scored (read: bought) that goal, Croatia would have won the group on goal difference.

Re: euro 2012 discussion thread
why isnt Sweden in there??? O.o??
Anyways i think Sweden will go further than most "big" teams, one of France/England will have to say goodbye in the the group stages i am afraid
