Roma reconsider Villas Boas
By Football Italia staff
Roma continue their attempts to lure Vincenzo Montella from Catania, but if problems continue then they could go back to Andre Villas Boas.
The Giallorossi have made it clear Montella is their first choice for the job, but Catania are so far refusing to release him from his contract.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, there are also issues with wages, as he would like €1.5m per season to return to the Olimpico, whereas the club is offering €1m.
It is reported that if the Montella situation is not resolved within 48 hours, Roma will move on to second choice Villas Boas.
The Portuguese tactician is out of work after Chelsea sacked him, but has also been linked with Liverpool.
Villas Boas was the original candidate to replace Luis Enrique and is said to be on stand-by for further developments.

Re: Montella: 'My weakness for Roma'
For Kjaer's sake, I don't think another coach who favors the high line is the way to go.
I want to see this guy flourish and I believe he can do that under a traditional Italian coach like Pioli or Montella. Put him in anything resembling Rossi's defense with Palermo and this guy will go from Bidone D'or candidate to Serie Best XI imo.

According to reports from the site maisfutebol.iol.pt , the former coach of Porto and Chelsea Andre Villas Boas still will not lean on your future , or at least seems not to be hasty about the Portuguese: "For me it is important to choose the right project. There is no urgency in this choice. " Roma and Liverpool are looking out the window

Roma rush to wrap up Montella
By Football Italia staff
Vincenzo Montella could be named as Roma boss within the next 48 hours, reports the Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Giallorossi are keen on re-appointing Montella after Luis Enrique – the man who replaced him at the Stadio Olimpico last summer – has now quit the club.
Although Catania and Roma are yet to reach an agreement over Montella’s exit, the Giallorossi are keen to wrap up a deal by the end of this week.
Montella is contracted to Catania for another 12 months.
Roma will apparently have around €30m to spend on the transfer market this summer. That amount may rise depending on summer sales.

Re: Montella: 'My weakness for Roma'
We already have the right pieces in attack, midfield and at goalkeeper. It's that backline that needs rebuilding and 30m is plenty for that, providing we don't go spending ridiculous amounts on unproven talents. We need experience and leadership back there and with 30m, we can certainly find that.

Re: Montella: 'My weakness for Roma'
if we cant get catania to give us Montella, I wouldnt mind Giannini as manager. That would be sthg to see.
As long as we stay away from idiots like LE or AVB, and hire ones who know roma I am all fine.

that makes it hard if you consider how ridicules are the transfer money that clubs request , i mean Silvestere 15m? seriously? or Rolando and we might need at least 3 centre back +a full back , AZpilicueta himself would cost nothing less than 10

Re: Montella: 'My weakness for Roma'
Agree with PB. He's nowhere near worth that much.
We're unfortunately not going to do our burgeoning reputation as low-ball specialists any favors this summer, but if we have to grind in order to get good deals for good players then I'm all for it. I still say 30m is enough.
Plus we're not counting the money we'll get from any players we actually do sell.

Re: Montella: 'My weakness for Roma'
Borriello and Pizarro should bring in a fair few quid.Perhaps around the 12M mark.
That's if Montella doesn't decide to keep them which I realy hope he doesn't.Borriello won't work in a 4-3-3 formation and neither will Pizarro, quality player no doubt but he's to old to be starting in our midfield. He's useless without the ball.

Pizarro wants to come back to Roma , Borriello however wants to stay at Juventus and i dont want him back either not because of his Lame personality and woeful play but because we already have Osvaldo and he is the same and if Gago be our only midfield transfer i say we still need another mid so Pizarro can be useful even though i prefer Marquinho because he can play left back too .

Villas Boas back on Roma list
By Football Italia staff
Andre Villas Boas remains on stand-by for the Roma job and his agent confirms “we’re looking for a strong, solid and long-term project.”
The former Chelsea boss had been top of the wish-list to replace Luis Enrique, but was overtaken by Vincenzo Montella.
As Catania are refusing to release Montella from his contract, the Giallorossi appear to be turning their attention back to AVB.
“We are looking for a strong, solid and long-term project,” agent Carlos Goncalves told Romagiallorossa.com.
“Villas Boas would like to return to management in these conditions, but if these components are absent, then he has no problem taking a year out.
“I repeat, we are looking for a sporting structure that is very strong and competitive. We’ll see if these conditions can be found at any of the clubs that contact us.”
When asked whether he had been in negotiations with Roma director Franco Baldini, Goncalves refused to confirm or deny.
“We don’t talk about specific clubs.”

Re: Montella: 'My weakness for Roma'
I really hope they announce the new manager soon so we can start to get to work in the transfer market, know what names to expect to be linked with,etc..Don't want this to drag on for to long.
I reckon AVB is still the number one target for Baldini and Co.....

Re: Montella: 'My weakness for Roma'
Montella and Lodi in Viola?
Vincenzo Montella is now being paired with the Fiorentina job after links with former club Roma cooled.
The Catania boss was the favourite to succeed Luis Enrique in the Italian capital, but it now seems that Pescara boss Zdenek Zeman will take the job.
That has thus allowed the Viola to step in with an offer for the former Empoli, Sampdoria and Roma hitman.
The Tuscan club are looking for a new Coach after they dismissed Delio Rossi with just two games of the season remaining.
Reports today suggest that new Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade is already working to get Montella signed to the Stadio Franchi outfit.
Should he move to the Tuscan city, it is being claimed that he could ask playmaker Francesco Lodi to follow him from Sicily.
Lodi yesterday insisted that he would remain with the Elefanti following his sensational campaign at the Stadio Massimino.
