Is Europa a major trophy?

Basically, it takes the second tier teams of the previous year and the losers of CL pools in the current year.
Seems like the teams are competing to be the next best team after the ones who made the elimination round of CL.
Second rate trophy to me.

winning it is not as easy as it looks
bayern munich, juventus, man united, man city werent bad squads when they were participating in the tournament, none of them reached the finals..
very entertaining tournament and credit to these teams i guess

It's a major trophy for non-world class teams, and a mickey mouse trophy for the likes of United, Barca and Bayern.

If it is second rate compared to the CL, then i agree.
But it is a major trophy as it is not easy to win. Too bad the financial payout is not as high as the CL.

Considering which teams participated this year and which teams will participate next year, then yes. And the matches were very entertaining, too.

If we were to consider a ranking of club cup titles in order of prestige it would have to be something like this as far as European titles are concerned:

Bilbao has never won a european title if i recall. Must explain their players frustration.

It used to be legit when only top teams were in it.
It's less high profile now but it's still hard to win and hey a trophy is a trophy.
Plus you get a crack at the CL champs in the super cup, which is nice.
