Juventus was an option for Giuseppe Rossi before his injury, claims agent

The agent of Giuseppe Rossi has revealed that there was a possibility the injured Villarreal forward could have joined Juventus if it were not for his recent injury troubles.

The Italy attacker had appeared to be back on the mend after he returned to training with the Yellow Submarine following a cruciate ligament tear in October, but he suffered a recurrence of the same injury in April.

However, more significantly, the setback not only ruled out Rossi from participating in Euro 2012 for Italy, but also a likely transfer to the Old Lady, according to his agent Federico Pastorello.

"Giuseppe Rossi? Juventus was an option for him before his injury," mused the representative to Sky Sport Italia.

Pastorello then turned his attentions to other potential striker targets for Juventus, namely Arsenal's Robin van Persie and Manchester City's Carlos Tevez, but he does not expect the pair to be pitching up in Turin any time soon.

"Van Persie? There is so much competition for him, that's the problem," the agent affirmed.

"There are many big clubs in Europe that may have more to offer him, but now that Juventus have won the title, it could change things.

"As for Tevez, City currently want to sell other players, and he could be taken off the market."
