You know we are not expecting anything big from Podolski in his first year right?

There wont be any pressure on him, he will fit right in to our system and you watch Arsenal play, we create a lot of chances and Podloski wont need to do much to score goals for us.

He's not the type with good positioning, at least not like Gomez. He just have a powerful shot, Wenger will probably play him as a Right-winger

I started the thread, becuase I admire Arsenal and I just want you guys not to expect too much from him, like I did some years ago..

Honestly if you can shoot, you can't flop at Arsenal Arsenal makes way too much chances per game for a forward to flop. From what I've seen Podolski has a pretty good shot on him.

I don't think he will flop himself personally, Arsenal as a club may flop though.

Well after such a dismal showing in the EURO,his NT duties might be cut in the future especially since there are a no.of players way more talented than him looking to cement their place in the German NT ,so he will probably have to focus more on his club career now.

well it depends on whether he showcases good form for Arsenal then he might cement his place in the Germany team over those "more talented" midfielders

This thread is turning into the most insane thread on the board. Certain Arsenal fans are saying that any forward who flopped at Arsenal did so because they can't shoot?

I mean Chamakh scored 5 goals in one Champions League I believe while leading his team to the Semi's and he was outmatched in that tournament while at Bourdeaux.

But he was free so for Arsenal it's not a big deal. But he didn't fail because he forgot how to shoot.

Adebayor had one great year but the others were not because he can't shoot.

Eduardo could shoot but he got injured and couldn't come back with Arsenal's brilliant medical team but his flop if you want to call it that was not because he couldn't shoot.

Bendtner can shoot and had a nice goal against Barca and some other nice ones internationally but as a whole was a flop but it's not because he can't shoot.

Walcott you may have something with your theory there. One day he looks like the best player in the world the next he can't hit the broad side of a barn.

I for one don't think Podolski will "flop" what ever that means but if he is brought in to replace RVP then in England where people rush to judgement about any and everything they will call him a flop because he's just not as good as RVP, but it wont be because he can't shoot.

IF him and RVP play together like him and Klose did with ze Germans then I think it could be a great partnership.

But please lets stop all this all you need to do is know how to shoot and you will score 30 goals a season at Arsenal stuff.

People failed there because of the weight of replacing legends, Injuries, bad fits and being sold after there value went up. IT's not because they can't shoot.

I know some will take this as a bash Arsenal thread but take it from a Barca fan who people say the same thing about our team like all you have to do is play 90 minutes and you will score tons of goals but it just isn't true, in fact I don't think we ever replaced Eto'o. Villa, Ibra, Henry etc etc never reached the heights of Eto'o.

I will agree, though. There have been too many times when Arsenal just want to walk the ball into the post, something very hard to do when you have opposing teams parking the bus. Sometimes you just need to shoot, a skill Podolski has mastered, IMO.

Considering most Arsenal players apart from RVP have mediocre shots (Arteta is decent), you can see Podolski doing off pretty well. He has all the tools, physique, shot and technique. If he flops at Arsenal it will be all down to the small club mentality Idro has mentioned. But who knows.

Maybe I wasn't clear enough, I didn't mean that "you can shoot = you will succeed" - last season Arsenal lacked goalscorers, if not for van Persie I don't even know who would score goals for us, Walcott/Gervinho are unreliable they miss a lot, my point was that Arsenal creates a lot of chances per game and Podolski is a pure goalscorer and is not afraid to shoot. If he wont miss a lot of easy chances like Gervinho and Walcott did I don't see how he'll flop.

Also I just read that Arsenal are in for Dempsey, that clearly shows that Arsenal is looking for goalscorers with Podolski, Giroud, van Persie AND Dempsey (if we sign him) we have five players that have a good shot on them. I hated it when we played like Spain passing the ball around the box and trying to score the perfect goal.

Dude have you been reading the thread? Here is what you and your compatriots have been saying. Basically if someone didn't succeed at Arsenal then it's because they can't shoot. And if you can shoot then you will have no issues what so ever banging in goals. I mean that just hasn't been the case at all. RVP scores because he's a great player not just because he can shoot and the Arsenal system just does all the work for him. I mean read these quotes from you and your friends.

he cant flop i just cant see, if he knows how to shoot and is clinical with his decision making (which i have seen that he is), he will be a success at arsenal. like my fellow gooners have been saying, it seriously doesn't take much for a striker to be a success at arsenal.
