To be honest, I was more gutted Leiva suffered an ACL. That killed our season.

But i hope you notice Downing is present. That's why i keep defending him. He would have been up there if these guy would forget that pole for a sec.

At some point it stops becoming about luck and starts becoming an issue of training/belief.

This. It's way beyond just being an issue of luck.

Re: I Feel Sorry For You Lot
At some point we sign a player that's not mentally weak and doesn't give up after hitting the post / bar replacing Downing... and sign a striker that knows how to hit the back of the net!!!!!!

The woodwork is so thin, how can you possibly hit it so much

Re: I Feel Sorry For You Lot
The finishing, as a whole, has been poor. We create the chance, we hit the opening, but we miss the target by inches. Of course, there is inherently a little luck involved in finishing itself, but over the course of the entire season we have to admit it's been poor.beatrixasdfghjk. wrote:The woodwork is so thin, how can you possibly hit it so much.
Then again, as YNWA mentioned, had Lucas not gone down, we probably could've held off a few more teams and avoided some of the late draws and losses.

We wouldn't have stopped playing in the league after the Arsenal game if Leiva wasn't about. He takes every game 100% and would of drived the team forward.
Probably could of saved us 4-5 points since that Arsenal game too... so we still would of been in the running.

QPR and Villa come to mind immediately... but it's all speculation.ynwa wrote:We wouldn't have stopped playing in the league after the Arsenal game if Leiva wasn't about. He takes every game 100% and would of drived the team forward.

Re: I Feel Sorry For You Lot
That's true and all, but we wouldn't have conceded atleast a quarter the goals we did concede with him in the squad as he's Lucas Leiva!
Honestly though, his positional sense is amazing. He's hardly ever behind the ball, and makes midfielders think twice about which decision to take... he is that good. Jay Spearing may keep the ball rolling etc, and may be good when partnered with Lucas, he is not even 1/4 of the player Lucas is.

From opta: If all shots, for all teams, that hit the woodwork were counted as goals, Liverpool would be 4th in the league.

This is something that gives me true belief that even if we did no business in the transfer window, we would be competing for a top-4 finish next season.

46 may be all competitions; we've hit the woodwork 33 times this season in just the PL.

Its not just wood work we missed way too many easy one on one and 6-yard chances which other Top -6 converted with ease.

That's only 8 more than us in the league maybe if we batter Everton enough we might catch you
