When do u guys think a team outside of Europe or S. America will finish top 4 in a WC?

Minus Korea in 2002, that was kinda BS. But aside from that, the top 4 teams in every WC until now have been from either Europe or South America. But between African teams getting a bit stronger in the last 2 WCs, the U.S somewhat trying and some Arab countries in Asia being just filthy rich and getting more involved in the football world it seems as if it just a matter of time for that trend that has stood since 1930 to be broken in the next decade or so. And with Qatar's WC in 2022 one would assume that football in that part of the world is going to experience a massive change within that time frame given their wealth.

PS, i know the WC is a bit irrelevant atm, but as a barca fan, its nice to switch gears, at least til tuesday.

Let's not forget Ghana being robbed at the last one.....

Wealth might let you host a WC, but it doesnt give you good players.

I see Asia improving and nations like Japan and Korea might eventually get to the top4. Football is getting very popular around there.

Africa only needs better conditions, they have loads of raw talent already.

I don't see the US improving much, other sports are much more popular there.

Wealth doesn't give you good players but it does give many opportunities to improve conditions in many ways. And u cant stress that arab wealth, lol. It's another kinda wealth ATM. And I agree about the US. if we can do better in 2014 than we did in 2010, I'd be surprised.

The first non-Euro or South American team to win the cup will be the U.S. though

Concacaf will get it before Africa.

To be honest, I think Africa could have done it by now but they have terrible coaching and player development.

Ivory Coast still probably should of done it, but they have wasted their golden generation and now the Toures, Drogba, Zokoro's and co are approaching or already past 30.

Ghana got close and they still got a future with Andre Ayew and his brothers and others. However, losing Boateng is a blow as much as they can replace him, he is a beast of a player.

But yeah, the fact Zambia won the ACN doesnt exactly fill me with belief for the near future.

Japan to me are the most likely, they just seem to produce talent very well. But im not an expert at all on Asia football.

On topic:2014 may be a bit too early for them but i wont be surprised if they are competing with best come 2018.

dominated? is that because japan were the winners in extra time? they dominated therefore. yeah ok and chelsea dominated barcelona, 1-0 scoreline says it all. did you watch the final. australia easily had the best chances.

Australian pride!!! The problem is that we need a new generation to step up. We have no players in the starting XI of really top clubs at the moment.

Won't be the US. The US gets terrible referee decisions in every world cup. Why? Because the world hates the US, or most of it anyway, so the refs are biased against them.

The best teams outside of Europe and SA to qualify are Ghana and Egypt, however Egypt is in a crisis after the rebellion and Ghana is not far away, 2014 or 2018.

Japan, Egypt, Ghana, Ivory Coast - any of them is a possibility from 2018 on.

Yeah, our starting XI's average age is over thirty, we're going to be really screwed if a new generation of kids doesn't step up :L.
