Why are Madrid supposedly better than everyone besides Barca?

I have been noticing a trend recently that Madrid are supposedly better than the other big clubs in Europe other than Barca and comfortably?

Why is this? it certainly is'nt something they have proven as they have not beaten a big team in knock out stages of europe in over a decade......

Is it based on the individual quality they have? if this is the reason then its very naive as ability never has been and never will be enough to win things.

Is it because they feast on La Liga scrubs? again not a reason that proves they are better than the likes of Bayern, even City have been feasting on PL scrubs for majority of the season, Juventus has been unbeaten in Serie A all season but they are not the reckoning and quite rightly too as they have done nothing in Europe for years.

One Semi-final in god knows how long doesnt make you the 2nd best in the world, just like one year of flopping for Man Utd after 3 finals in 4 seasons doesnt make them scrubs.

I tend to look at the fact that Barca is still technically the best team in the world.
The rest is irrelevant.

Madrid,Bayern,Milan,Inter,Man U,Chelsea, etc, blah blah

I can consider a Madrid a top team. Then leave it at that.

Because they pound the shit out of the heavyweights they play each week in Spain

It's based on individual quality alone. Come on Mole, you know better than this, why do you buy into all the media crap in the first place? one doesnt become the best overnight, and obviously we still have a lot to prove.

I agree with this, also Nick i dont quite follow this has nothing to with the media this to with how far ahead this forum seems to think Madrid are of Bayern, Milan, Man Utd......

Also Individual ability means squat, if that was the case Barca might aswell be in the final already and Chelsea might aswell not turn up.

If we beat Barca on Saturday, beat Bayern next week, win the league and win the CL then we'll be the best.

Top of La Liga, 2nd semi final in a row in the CL, usually give Barca the toughest matches.

They are the 2nd best. They didn't turn up tonight v Bayern, but watch how they will murder them next week.

I agree with that, but all massive if's tbf as it stands for all your quality and money you have spent you have not proved a great deal so far.

Which is really my point, everyone though Madrid would thrash Bayern and it quite frankly left me rather confused.

Madrid played poorly tonight because they was'nt allowed to play, i find it interesting how people seem to make the same naive mistakes over and over again.

Again not saying Madrid wont beat them because they might but they wont batter them.

Also top of La Liga mean's f*ck all in this discussion if they cant beat Bayern.

All that means Madrid are flat track bullies are batter teams that are not of CL level but they cant hang with the big boys.

How does beating barca once, losing twice and drawing three times, not to mention losing two two-legged ties, make you better?

I disagree no one has yet to answer my question how have they proved that they are #2, saying that they have given Barcelona a hard time isn't going to cut it, Milan gave Barcelona a hard time, so has Inter and even La liga teams.
The way I look at it, yes on paper they are #2 but they have yet to beat a high ranked team that plays in another main league, Bayern is there chance to show what they can do against other Euro Clubs and today they didn't prove they are better.

If we perform similar to how we did the last time we played Barca, we have a good chance of winning.

In terms of the CL, we're playing at home and we just need a goal.

Madrid are second best team in the world, they are not that far off this season from Barcelona.
