I like to think of Carroll as a free transfer +15mill.

I don't think he's as bad as many on this forum think he is.
Maybe at his current value, he'd be a bargain.

Re: Is Andy Caroll a bargain?
He's been really unlucky this season, If he gets at least 10 goals at the end the end of the year I'll be happy. He's never going to be a 30-goal-a-season striker, we even knew that when we signed him, but we do expect around 15-18 goals from him per season.

and that's almost half of the money Liverpool gave us for Carrol.
Newcastle

Since we signed Cisse lol, i feel its my duty to point out that Ben Arfa, Tiote and Krul were bought before we sold Carroll
Also Messia makes a good point, Carroll for free plus 15m sounds like the deal of the century

We can all agree that the loser in this argument is a certain Russian egocentric billionaire that made it all possible.
Although, we did shoot ourselves in the foot in the summer spending almost 50 mill on Hendo, Adam, and Downing :vagi:

Since he took a 180 degree turn on literally all his opinions.

If you think of it, the way things are going, had we kept Torres, he would've scored 1 goal less than Carroll for us in that time span, and we wouldn't have that extra 15mill

Plus I think Torres receive more wage, good thing you clear that up too.
What a Liability Torres is, but jokes apart, still can't justify Carrol as a big flop, Torres is just a Bigger flop.
Huntelaar has 46 goals in 41 appearance this season, I will love to see him in Liverpool

I just realized, had we not had the extra 15 mill, we wouldn't have bought one of Adam or Downing

yeah I know, but we can't dwell on something we can't get back. And I'd take Pukki over Huntelaar in the blink of an eye. As much as I like Huntelaar, he's turning 29 soon and will only have 2/3 more years at the most at the highest level.

I understand the age thing, but Huntelaar is better than over-rated Podolski, yes Podolski is a good player, but his highly over-rated on this forum
Re: Is Andy Caroll a bargain?
I beg to differ with that statement. I don't think Podolski is at all overrated, he's playing for the shitties team in Bundesliga and yet he's carrying them like a god. Other than goals Huntelaar doesn't really offer much.
But I want Pukki over both of them.

For a mere 35 million, Liverpool revealed how they need to clean house with new coaches, players, ballboys, etc across the board. Bargain.

Re: Is Andy Caroll a bargain?
I think Liverpool fans in general have been more satisfied with Carroll than most... Granted some of that is part of being a fan, but genuinely he's looked good in his games since the beginning of the year. Do we wish that translated to regular goals? Of course. But his hold up play, flick ons and passing have been excellent, and he consistently wins headers in the air. The number of times he's put players in one on one or set them up with good chance from headers has been very high, but he's not the only one with finishing problems and others have failed to take their chances in those situations.
Honestly, while I can accept that he's not worth 35 million, he's a player I'm happy to have on the team now that he's here. Same can't be said about some of our other recent signings.

Re: Is Andy Caroll a bargain?
Huntelaar flopped hard at Madrid and Milan although he didn't get much game-time (+ there are various other reasons that I won't go into right now), but my point is that despite all that, the hunter would beast in the EPL as a target man for all those long balls. Think of him as a skilful Peter Crouch.Idrisozet wrote:I understand the age thing, but Huntelaar is better than over-rated Podolski, yes Podolski is a good player, but his highly over-rated on this forum
