Lazio youth player in a coma

Lazio are in shock as 17-year-old youth team player Mirko Fersini is in a coma after an accident on his moped.

The player crashed his scooter this morning and it is reported he crashed into a large metal bin, which somehow knocked his helmet off during the impact.

Fersini is in the Allievi Nazionali team coached by Simone Inzaghi.

Shocking news for someone of his age, I hope he's able to recover fully. With the way people drive in Italy it's hardly surprising, but it's still highly unsettling to hear when it happens to someone who's not even 18 yet.

That is a very young age to suffer from such a horrible thing. I hope he recovers as fast as possible, I hate when these things happen.

I hope this guy recovers, its so sad seeing these things happen to young people

Lazio mourn teenager Fersini

Lazio youth team player Mirko Fersini has died following an accident on his scooter last Friday.

The 17-year-old crashed into a large metal bin which had left him in an irreversible coma since the incident on April 6.

The boy passed away this morning. It is understood that his parents have allowed for his organs to be available for transplant.

Fersini, a brother to two sisters, was a defender with Simone Inzaghi’s Allievi Nazionali youth side.

It's a continental thing actually.

But being in a coma at 17 is a horrible thing...

It so sad, so many horrible incidents happening in football, to young people too. Just really sad.
