Re: Ronaldo heading to Wimbledon?
Ronaldo is a phenomenal athlete who could do well in most sports if he wanted too
His vertical leap is better than majority of NBA players ffs.... Just insane

Re: Ronaldo heading to Wimbledon?
What's his vertical?
And Nah....NBA is on a different level in terms of athletes, he wouldn't be average but nothing particularly special.
He would make an even better receiver.

Re: Ronaldo heading to Wimbledon?
I believe a lot of WC athletes can do really well in other sports. Lots of them are amazing at more than one sport, lots have to choose one and stick with it though.

Re: Ronaldo heading to Wimbledon?
Nah, I've seen his leap, it's amazing for a footballer
But I'd still say it's pretty much the average for an NBA player.

Re: Ronaldo heading to Wimbledon?
Actually I can't remember what the videos were called, but the guy who says "unbelievable tekkers" on socceram did a thing with Ronaldo testing his physical abilities etc and his leap was better than the average NBA player if I remember correctly

Re: Ronaldo heading to Wimbledon?
I can safely say that without a hint doubt whatsoever it isn't better than the average Point Guard or Shooting guard which are the only positions he could possibly play.

Re: Ronaldo heading to Wimbledon?
Ronaldo then had a 17 inch standing vertical jump (no arms which makes it much harder) and then a 30 inch one step vertical jump.
not sure what an NBA players stats are but theres CRs

Re: Ronaldo heading to Wimbledon?
"
4. Jump tests: Again only Ronaldo tested. He jumped 17 inches with hands on his hips, and 30 inches with a step. Analysis:
First of all 17 inches with no arm swing is not great, but not terrible. As mentioned in the episode, soccer players do not jump from a stand still very often like that. In addition, arm swing can contribute a lot of power to the vertical jump so don’t get too caught up with the 17 inches. (J Sports Sci. 1999 Jun;17(6):449-66.Upper extremity augmentation of lower extremity kinetics during countermovement vertical jumps.Feltner ME, Fraschetti DJ, Crisp RJ) There are even more studies like that. The second jump Ronaldo gets much higher and jumps 30 inches. He also gets to use his arms so it doesn’t give a true difference in his reactive strength abilities which is what the real investigation should be. Adding in arm swing and a reactive component is sure to improve the jump a lot. Is 30 inches amazing? No. But, its not bad for a guy as fit as him since being ultra-fit will decrease displays of absolute speed and jumping ability. Although his jumping is a factor, he also wins headers because he is tall and he times and positions himself well. If his legs got stronger he would get higher, no doubt."
To compare.
The average for NBA at point gaurds is 35 inches.
The average for NBA shooting gaurds is also 35.
Another example for individual players.
Poor vertical leap at the shooting guard position (average height is 6'2 at this position, same as Cristiano) would be someone like for example Michael Reed, who when drafted recorded a score of 31.0
A average vertical leap for a player at the position would be, Delonte West, who recorded a score of 35.0
And outstanding vertical leap at the position would be someone like Vince Carter, who recorded a score of 43.0

Re: Ronaldo heading to Wimbledon?
True.
But I would say, unlike in football, its possible to make it based on god given athletic ability (and freak size) and very little else in the way of skill.
