Newcastle sound out Real Madrid for Alvaro Morata
Newcastle United are interested in Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata.
Morata is ready to leave Real this summer after being overlooked by coach Jose Mourinho for a first team chance this term. The decision to go with Castilla teammate Joselu ahead of Morata was the final straw for the young centre-forward.
Arsenal have been linked with the Spain U20 international, but now its Newcastle which are making their interest known.
Indeed, Toon officials have already asked for first option on Morata should he become available for next season.

Re: Newcastle sound out Real Madrid for Alvaro Morata
No we have Cisse where he plays who we signed in January for 9m and he has 5 goals in 6 games so far........
I heard this rumour the other day but it doesnt make much sense because we dont really need a CF and it wouldnt be good for the lads progress.
I suppose he would play infront of Best and that means he's 2nd choice in our new 4-3-3 system and would start every game during AFCON and when ever Cisse isnt available.
But either way id rather us sign a FB, CB, DM and CM all before a CF
These to me are the priorities.
Having said all of this i heard we would sign a young striker for the future so it could hold some weight but i have major doubts.

The best way to promote a youngster by linking him to Arsenal, Man City and Spuds will be going after him now also.

I am imagining it lol, but forward is one of the few areas where we are not desperate for depth.......
Midfield and Defence are the priorities, not saying i would be against this signing but if he leaves Madrid he should be joining a team where he would start.
Call me Mole btw

Re: Newcastle sound out Real Madrid for Alvaro Morata
He could be a good backup until Ba's knee eventually goes, or if he leaves Newcastle.
But since Newcastle already have Ba, Best, Cisse etc. its hard to see where he'll fit in and now that they play with one striker these days it will be hard for him to get time.

True Mole... but i would not be shocked at all if you guys sold both Ba and Ben Arfa if the price were high enough. I'd add Cabaye to that list. I've heard in France that Cabaye is coveted and wants to play in CL... lets hope Newcastle makes it somehow.
Anyhow, makes it easier to swallow losses with backup plans.

Re: Newcastle sound out Real Madrid for Alvaro Morata
Ba plays on the left of a 4-3-3 now LM, sorta like a inside forward like Villa for Barca.
If Morata joined he would be competing with Cisse not Ba.
How we lined up yesterday.......
Also why would Ba leave? he loves it here he has said it on many occasions he has international team mate here and he would join who is better? we are joint 5th 5 points off 4th its not like who he could join would be much better if at all.
Also if anyone wants any of our players they will have to massive over the top fees all our players apart from Ba are on long term contracts of 5 years or more.

Re: Newcastle sound out Real Madrid for Alvaro Morata
I would actually go with:
Tiote-Cabaye
Morata-Ben Arfa-Ba
Cisse
Play a 4-2-3-1. Morata has been playing mostly SS/winger this year with some CF.

Doesn't Ba have a pretty lowish buyout clause though? Low enough that a top club should be able to snap him up if they want him, just speculation, I don't know if Ba will be able to reject a big club though.

Morata has been playing wide for Castilla this season Mole.
It's not his best position, but he can play it.

Re: Newcastle sound out Real Madrid for Alvaro Morata
Newcaslte have cash, they can pay their players well, are currently doing really well and are about two or three signings away from challenging for a Champions League place. I would be very surprised if any of their key men left this summer.
I do not think Newcastle would be the club for Morata if he wants first team action. He'd probably be better off setting his sights lower and going to a club who will actually play him every week, or playing for a club with an aging striker who he can replace in a couple of years.

Which big club that would buy him that is much better than us? Spurs? Chelsea?
We are level on points with Chelsea and 5 points off Spurs its not like when Enrique left where the rest where so much better than us the gap has closed.
If we get europe which is looking increasing likely i dont think Ba will leave.
Also we wont change the system after spending all year long trying to find one that works.......
4-3-3 is perfect for us, it gives us defensive stability, front 3 that can interchange and midfield 3 which allows Cabaye to have more impact on the game and allow us to not get dominated in the middle like we was when we playing with a 2 man mid.
If we do buy a forward i expect it to be one like Hoilett, but quite frankly i expect us to buy a CB, FB, back up to Tiote and a playmaker or b2b mid depending on what Cabaye's role is.
Sports i heard about that lol, we supposedly want Corgnet, Mbiwa( which i would be ecstactic about) and many others lol.

Re: Newcastle sound out Real Madrid for Alvaro Morata
I wouldnt mind Morata joining Newcastle, he is going to need at least 2 years before blossoming. If Newcastle is serious about maybe developing him, and having him in their rotation, then it's a good move.
Even la liga teams wont guarantee him to start every week i think, given that he is still in D3, it's a big gamble. EPL can help him mature and he can work on his body as well.

I don't know why some of you are disappointed with this news, but Morata leaving is the best thing that can happen to him.
I don't know why Newcastle want him, but maybe for rotation with Cisse?
Morata is built for the EPL anyway. I would love to see him there as long as he gets his fair share of chances.

Morata is also a winger and can play SS too.
For Castilla he has pretty much played as a winger all season

Would fit like a dove into our new system then, my concern would be lack of play time stunting his growth......
He would be playing cup games, during AFCON and when Cisse/Ba is injured,suspended..... would you be happy with that?
I presumed Madrid fans would want him to go to a team where he starts everyweek.
I do think our priorities should be a CB, FB , DM and CM as i said but if the player knows he wont be starting everyweek and accepts that then i have no problem with it.
I was just worried about his future because i expected him to join a team where he would start everyweek.
