Roma reveal transfer plans
By Football Italia staff
Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini has revealed that his club will look to sign two or three top quality players over the summer.
The official is a specialist at unearthing stars of the future, but he’s told Rete Sport that the Giallorossi also need ready-made champions.
“We have to improve the squad,” he noted on Thursday. “We have the need for two or three established players with proven CVs.
“Then there will be other players brought in like we did this season. We know that boys aged 19 or 20 can’t change the destiny of a club or a team.
“We want to raise the bar when it comes to talent and we want to play a more spectacular brand of football,” added the former Palermo official.
“We will be concentrating on quality rather than quantity in the summer transfer market.”
Roma, who hired Luis Enrique as Coach in the summer, have been inconsistent this season – but they are just four points shy of the last Champions League spot.

Send Bojan back to Barca and Kjaer back to Wolfsburg.

Re: Roma reveal transfer plans
Bojan still has another season to prove himself so we should definitely keep him on. But I do see us making a subtantial push for Giuseppe Rossi.
As for defense, yeah we definitely need a new CB, but Kjaer still has some time to prove himself. He's looked ok in the last 2 games.

Can we send Bojan back? I thought it was basically up to Barca if they wanted him back or not? Its not really a loan?
I also thought Bojan looked pretty good when he came on against Genoa. Much better than Lamela played that game. However, it seems we have too many forwards that are simply "prospects". Lamela is also not a natural striker, he seems out of position in that role IMO. Rossi would be a fantastic addition to this squad as I have mentioned before. My question is though, who is going to be the one sitting out? Will it be Totti turn to finally sit back and let his role be occupied? Borini, Lamela, Bojan, Osvaldo, PLUS new talented forward. That seems like a lot of players fighting over 2 positions if Totti stays in his usual role. I would much rather have;
Totti
Borini Rossi
rather than
Totti
Borini Osvaldo
And something like this when Totti is on the bench
Lamela
Borini Rossi
Borini Rossi
rather than
Totti
Borini Osvaldo
And something like this when Totti is on the bench
Lamela
Borini Rossi

Rossi would be to much of a gamble imho plus he's not as great as everyone says he is,bit overrated imo.If we do end sigining a new forward player my money is on it being Palacio.Sabatini was on about him again today.Perhaps a Borriello - Palacio swap is on the cards.I hope so don't want to see him in a Roma shirt again he offers us nothing.

Re: Roma reveal transfer plans
The chances of Boriello playing for us again is null. He had his chance to impress Enrique and he failed. Conte doesn't seem to fancy him much either. I agree...if we do get Palacio, then Boriello is likely to go the other way.
As for Palacio, he's been quality for the past couple of seasons. At 30, there will obviously be questions of how much he'll have to offer us in the long run, but I have no doubt that he'd be a coup if we pick him up.

Re: Roma reveal transfer plans
Bojan should stay. I strongly believe that players that go into a new league and are not nationals of that league play better in their second season, especially in a case as that of Bojan. I'm sure he will impress a lot more in a new season.
To me Sabatini is implying that he wants a midfielder, you can't play "a better brand of football" without a guy being able to play key passes.

Bojan should and will stay. Totti is getting older, next time i dont think he can keep up with the tempo.
A CB is a must signing though.

A Rossi Update
Giuseppe Rossi's agent has claimed that any club interested in his client will have to fork out €20 million to land the Villarreal forward.
The Italy international has been heavily linked with a move to Inter of late and his representative, Federico Pastorello, has admitted that the 25-year-old, who enjoyed a previous loan spell at Parma, would welcome a return to Serie A.
However, the agent is warning the Nerazzurri that Rossi will not come on the cheap and that they are likely to face stiff competition for the player's services.
"The reported €15m valuation is not right. It would need at least €20m," Pastorello told Paginegiallorosse.it.
"He is very attached to Villarreal, but has many offers - and not only from Italian clubs, also foreign clubs.
"He wants to test himself with the best players and win something, but playing the Champions League would not be an obsession for him.
"Returning to Italy would be ideal as he considers it his championship."
Pastorello also revealed that he has been trying to sell the idea of a move to the Italian capital.
"I have long spoken of Roma with Giuseppe," he revealed. "He really likes the philosophy of Luis Enrique. It warrants respect and they are a great team."
Rossi is currently recovering from a serious knee injury but it is hoped that he will return to action in time to play some part in his country's Euro 2012 campaign.

Re: Roma reveal transfer plans
Palacio would be a fantastic addition, I think he would fit in perfectly to our current system.
Rossi, would be great as well, but depending on the price tag.
As for the exits, Bojan's move is all up to Barca. It's their decision, they could keep him here one more year or call him back for the agreed fee. Though we could force them to take him back if we say he's no longer part of our plans (I doubt Barca would like to see one of their players sit and rot on the bench for a whole season). And for Kjaer, there's been rumors that we might be interested in prolonging his loan deal, rather than buying him fully. Looks like we haven't totally given up on him.

Great news
Villarreal will sell Giuseppe Rossi in the summer and have sounded out interest from Premier League clubs including Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham.
Goal.com understands the Italy international could be available for as little as €14.5 million (£12m) at the end of the season due to Villarreal’s dire financial situation and the player’s desire to move to a bigger club.

Re: Roma reveal transfer plans
So with a striker what does it look like?
---Gago-----De Rossi------Pjanic
Lamela---------------------------Borini
--------------Rossi--------------------
That's the idea right?
I like it....Very well balanced. You'll also need a new RB.

Why we dont offer Borriello( Juventus wont take him) +some found to villarreal
What do you think about Palacio? , He is going to be 31 and i prefer a younger player but it depends on the price tag
Cassetti needs to go as far as he can !

Kjaer is a talented CB.
I loved him at Palermo, thought he was a fantastic distributer from the back and overall a very promising player.
Has he declined?
