Makes for better games. Paraguay are very organized, they can give Brazil a run for their money.

AWWW YEAAAH

That's pretty dope. Argentina are one of the few NT's who actually play possession football right?

Remember this?

So what do you guys think? Possession or counter attack?

lmg, possession suits Argentina naturally almost as much as it suits Spain. However unlike Spain, Argentina don't quite have the players for it at the moment. Hence alex's suggestion of a counter-attacking system makes sense in it's own way. It's too late to train the players to play in another way though. They will play the possession game with a more direct attacking style than Barcelona and this suits them reasonably well.

JD I agree, but I was talking about the long run. I guess we'll see whether they need to make changes or not after this tournament.

lmg, that's true. This tournament will indicate to us just where we stand at the moment in terms of how good the national team is and how are our preparations coming along for WC 2014.

Lionel Messi why do you try to reason with those guys in the general section. They're like those mandagora drakes from harry potter; ugly, disgusting and make very stupid ampliative arguments.
They state false premises and stretch the conclusion over 9000 beyond what the premise dictates.
It's like a freaking religious debate

Lol, do whatever you want. This is the internet. I ain't scared of shit.

I posted it here because Lionel Messi was taking on the entire goallegacy armada and wasn't getting anywhere. I thought the Barca forums would be best since people like you don't come here.

I should have known better. Barca forum is everybody's forum. It's like a rule

Not a bad game of football. The referee was a bit too involved in the game for my taste. Argentina can be accused of not taking advantage of their man-advantage, but that shouldn't change that the Mascherano sending off was the wrong call. Overall though, on the balance of chances created, Uruguay were worth the win.

Messi was brilliant I thought. Naturally the knives will be out for him, regardless. I hope though, that the Argentine fans finally see that through him is the way forward for this team.

The defining image of the match for me was Messi on the ground, face down after he had just missed a chance to put Argentina through.
He had the captain's armband and had the chance to be the HERO.
Unfortunately just wasnt to be.
The effort was there but it just didnt work out for him.
But I am sure he will be back.

Oh and Argentina were clearly the better team and should have gone through.
Just werent clinical.
But thats the way it goes.Sometimes the best team doesnt win.
Uruguay played well a man down and fair job to them.
