well he has been at the helm about 6 months now. So I figured I could get some early thoughts.

Some serious dislike for RDM on this forum in general as it reminds me of the rage towards Mancini. Is it because they are both Italian? hmm Wouldn't be surprised given the English disdain towards Italian football.

Quite obvious RDM has shut his critics up for what is the 3rd time in his career. He is a typical Italian manager who is pragmatic, builds from ground up, focuses on the dying art of defence yet knows how to build a mean attack. Of course I don't have to mention the Italian meticulousness to detail.

I still don't believe he is suited to Chelsea despite him being a fantastic tactician.

Nothing to do with the fact he is Italian Arq

It's just too early IMO. I don't like the 4-2-3-1 but I like how we are playing with the passing and all.

I had a few minor concerns months ago about giving him the job full-time, but I back him fully. He's done essentially nothing wrong, save for a few personnel selections we didn't agree with, and now even that he's starting to rectify.
He's a soft-spoken guy who gives nothing away to the outside, but, by all accounts, is a supreme man-manager and knows just how to deal with each and every individual in our diverse squad flawlessly.
He knows there needed/needs to be youth injected into the side to remedy the obvious lack of quality in the team that has been escalating for the last few seasons, but also understands the value of experience, and has so far blended the two perfectly.
He's shown he's not a one-trick pony with one set of tactics and nothing else. He can adapt and set the team up perfectly in terms of tactics, strategy, and personnel depending on the opposition to put us in the best possible position to win each individual match as they come.
And lastly, very plainly, he gets it. Gets the club, get's its culture, gets the fans; he knows the pressure, understands it, and knows how to deal with it. He's a Chelsea boy through and though (his own words, not mine), and his passion for the club is something we need.

FA Cup, European Cup, 16 points from 18, top of the table, 3 competitive losses in 7 months (which all came using reserve sides)...what more can you ask for. So yes, I back him 100%

People dislike Mancini because he's a brat and a crybaby who has a hissy fit every time something doesn't go his way or his Sheikh doesn't buy him 3 new toys every transfer window.

Not to mention, he's as overrated and under-talented as they come. He won his three Scudetti at a time when the entire league was in complete turmoil and one of his biggest title challengers was relegated, he won the PL last year on goal difference alone to one of the worst United sides in decades, that had half its team out injured at any given time for almost the entire season, and that's after falling 8 points behind them in the final stretch. Had United not had a monumental collapse after having things done and dusted, Mancini'd be on the dole right now. Add on top of that that he's a serial failure in Europe.
By this time next year, he's be ancient history at City. Mourinho or Pep to be his replacement.

With Nottingham Forest having surprisingly sacked Sean O'Driscoll this evening, Robbie is being mentioned/rumoured as a possible replacement and some bookmakers even have him as favourite for the position.
In the end though, I'd be reeeeeeeally surprised if he agreed to join them should they offer him the job, if I'm honest.

Saw a rumour yesterday from Chris Mears (great-grandson of CFC founder Gus Mears) that he'd been informed by someone 'reliable' that Robbie is to become next Fulham manager sometime in the next week. Surprisingly enough, this morning, Sky reported that money on Martin Jol had started flowing in out of nowhere and he moved from 10/1 to be Next PL Manager Sacked, to 3/1, to now 6/4 favourite in the space of less than 2 hours.

Just another rumour among many we've heard about him since his departure of course, but worth keeping an eye on nonetheless hmm

Would rather it be there than been QPR, if it had to be a London club.

He'll win the Europa with them within 3 years before establishing them as a Champions League
mainstay, I reckon :coffee: Razz

Has there been a falling out with Martin Jol, I thought he was doing a good job considering it's Fulham.

Well, he had a pretty good first season with them last year, but they seem to have completely collapsed this season. Only a few more poor results away from being sucked into the relegation battle, with no signs of improving really.

I for one won't miss him if he does go. Smug prat with that stupid accent, would welcome not having to see and hear him for those 15 seconds on MOTD every week anymore Laughing

Since he left, hundreds! First we heard Valencia, then Schalke, then QPR, then Nottingham Forest, then Fulham sometime this week (another one looking like a bust Mad ) and so on. Wouldn't be surprised to see him move abroad as I don't see any higher-end positions opening up in England. There was talk over the summer before he got the permanent deal of Napoli and the sort. Will be interesting to see where he does end up.
