Who is the most overrated player on Goallegacy ?

He wasn't SCORING GOALS like he has done this season, but he's been as brilliant since Wenger moved to his preferred position when Wilshere/Diaby were injured. Arteta/Ramsey bossing pretty much got Arsenal that 4th place when we looked clueless in attack.

He has offered far more in attack this season and im not even talking about goals

Julian Draxler is the most overrated player right now bar-none given people who want to buy him and his price tag. At least with Bale, you knew what you were getting.

Yeh Modric has never been rated on GL. He's underrated. When he performs against the top midfields in the CL this season he'll be rated correctly.

The reason he is "underrated" as you say, is BECAUSE he never done anything against great teams. So no, if he changes that then people can change their opinion...but at this moment, the opinion is correct.

He is a good player who has yet to take a leap to great.

''Never done'' is a flawed statement. I remember him being MOTM against United with spurs, despite them losing the game.

Modric was also top performer against BVB in the return leg in which we won 2-0, modric's game isnt about goals or assists though so yeah, it will take some time to rate him here in GL.

Any way he hasnt really played many big games with us. Modric with tottenham if i remember correct was always top performer in a 3 man midfield..he still is. Last year he struggled at first when he came with out any preseason and mourinho played him as a CAM which is never his role let alone best position....when played at CM he was pretty good. This season he is up there with any best midfielder La liga can offer.

I haven't seen anyone call Modric the best CM in the World on here. Just one of the top CM's currently, which is true. Also it's not like he's never performed against top teams.

He performed against Man Utd, doesn't matter if they had 10 men. They were still defending with 2 banks of 4, the striker spot was vacant for them.

He performed against Dortmund 2nd leg, doesn't matter if they were sitting back.

He performed against Barca earlier this season and he made a big difference when he came on against Atletico too. Did fine against Juve as well.

He doesn't need to be scoring a hattrick every game to prove himself.

United were playing a 4-3-2 in defence, to which makes massive sacrifices on guarding the wings and allowing considerable space in the midfield to manoeuvre for any CM, including oncoming centre backs in coming down central. Their game plan allowed miles of space for Modric to which was exploited well by him, given they even pushed up their own fullbacks to thwart Madrid's wide attack. It is nothing notable scoring in such circumstances especially when just coming in, United were thrown off their tangent zone.

His performance versus Dortmund was a typical Modric performance. Get many touches, consistently be present in the game yet make no tangible outcome through highly uninspiring on-ball runs and passes. Mesut Özil the star of that midfield that day. Even then, it is always less difficult playing a team who will rest on such a lead given all the space available. Milan's 2nd leg to Arsenal after the 4-0 a prime example or Arsenal vs Bayern in Allianz.

No, he did not perform vs Barcelona. Unlike his usual games, he failed to acquire many touches either. Juve he was dominated the 1st game and was outshone by Xabi in the 2nd until he ran out of gas.

Spurs vs United a good example, something you frequently miss. He was excellent there.

Must do more to be considered world class.

MOTM in a game they lost and created few chances?

Also yes he was good against BVB in the 2nd leg but it was in a game where BVB was strolling after smacking you 4-1 in which oh yeah Modric failed to do anything and was destroyed by Gundogan.

He fails to perform when ever his team really needs him most, that is FACT and always has done.

Its something i told this entire forum before he joined Madrid and he's still doing it from what i have seen.

Stop scraping the barrel looking for tiny rays of positivity.... Modric is what he is a very technically talented player who shrinks when the spotlight is on.

Until that changes no one is going to join you in your fapping of beating Valladolid and Betis.

It's not 4-3-2 when Modric scores here. Even van Persie's almost back. They were defending with 2 banks of 4, just like usual.



Modric played a part in the early 1v1's missed by the side. Overall he was one of the best players against Dortmund.




Against Barcelona he won't be getting as many touches since they dominate the majority of possession. Besides, I can't remember the last time Alonso 'performed' in a big game for Real Madrid. Players don't need to be scoring hattricks/ don't need motm worthy performances every game to 'perform'. As long as they don't completely flop and they do their best, then they've done fine.
