We have a really close relationship with Benfica. Rodrigo, David Luiz, Coentrao, Garay, and thats in the last two/three years only. Not surprised TBH. I hope we will play Schalke in the Trofeo Bernabeu though.

What does David Luiz have to do with us?

Before he went to Chelsea he was VERY closely linked with us and we saw him as a replacement for the then-crap Marcelo. We had an option of first refusal due to the Di Maria deal as well, IIRC.
