Re: La Selección Argentina
He was pretty good in the U20 world cup, thought he missed the penalty that put us out after we were up by two penalties
Anyway, he has a great cross and can defend pretty superbly, he's a pretty good player, I need to see more of him but from what I've seen I think I can agree that he has potential.
If Barca buy him that would be amazing
I think he would be 3rd choice at first, maybe he goes straight to Barca B, who knows. Grimaldo is still young but he will be starting to knock on the door of the first team before we know it so I don't know if Barcelona will want to buy another LB.
Possible Barca LB pecking order
: Alba, Adriano,Tagliafico

Re: La Selección Argentina
Idk...if he is good enough and he is bought then I think that we probably won't buy Alba(espescially with Grimaldo in the ranks-potentially).
However he is just 19 so if we buy him, I would understand if the club wants to get a more experienced LB

Re: La Selección Argentina
He is far too young to start for Barca or have a role other than rotation at most, he would need time to integrate into the team and into Barcas philosophy.
He's been compared to Zanetti by many, because of their similarities between what club they came up from and the way they play, if he can be half as good as Zanetti he would be fine at Barca
The Barca scout also went to Lanus vs Belgrano to watch Romero and Andrada, and Andrada didn't even play
Lanus lost 0-1 to a penalty I bet Andrada would have saved it

Highlights of the Roma match, which Lamela scores the last goal, he barely played 10 minutes and scored a pretty class goal on a counter attack. Great curling finish, he reminds me of heskey a little there. This kid is going to be great.

Lamela scores his 3rd Roma goal with this amazing freekick, about time he scored one he was brilliant at setpieces with River I remember.

Milito needs to stay away from the NT, he's can't play at international level anymore and he showed it in the Copa America.

Hell yea, I've been there since 2010...Great site for news and discussion. I occasionally post there but not all the time(I lurk most of the time). They also have a live chat whenever a NT match is on, and it has a surprising amount of people present at that time.

Re: La Selección Argentina
Sabella:
"I like GAGO. He has management, has personality, is versatile and wants the ball."
On the team:
"We need to fix the defense. I can change the system and the strategy."
On players he is following:
"Yesterday, I went to watch the match between San Lorenzo and Racing Club because I wanted to see SAJA (Racing Club goalkeeper Sebastian SAJA). Matias RODRIGUEZ is someone I've been following since my days at Estudiantes."
On Barcelona and playing like them:
"We could watch Barcelona's matches but in no way can we compare ourselves to them. Barcelona is a unique team and we should look at some of their things, but to copy them is impossible."
On Lionel MESSI:
"MESSI has a good understanding with HIGUAIN and AGUERO but with Barcelona he plays an open game which makes the pitch that much bigger."
This is pretty good news, any changes in our defense I will embrace with open arms. It's also good that he likes Gago, he is a great player.

Re: La Selección Argentina
I heard Matias Rodriguez is a pretty good fullback, and it's an area where I feel we desperately need some talent. Zabaleta is ok, but that is itself a problem, since he will be exposed by Germany-like teams. I have given up hope on Ansaldi getting a shot
Gago would always be in my ideal Argentina squad since he is very consistent with the NT, and given some time to "gel" with the forward line can become a real threat imo.
I think Di Maria has matured enough as a player(of course his atrocious diving is still there but w/e) so that he can be deadly in the midfield. That said, I think we need a person who can instigate creative attacks from the midfield. I am talking about a Riquelme-type player.
For me, Hector Canteros is this player. I saw his matches vs Brazil and I am dumbfounded why he has not been given another chance to show his worth.
---Canteros---Mascherano---Gago
---------------Messi-------------
-------Kun---------------Pipa-------
OR
Lamela---Gago----Masche------Di Maria
----------------Messi------------------
-----------------Kun/Pipa--------------
But guess what?
Lamela's/Canteros' spot is going to be taken by Sosa

Re: La Selección Argentina
Sosa top assister in the Europa League, is he better than we think?
I think Masche should play defense. He is simply superb there. Not to mention that not many teams play with a destroyer anymore, it would only make sense to play him if we were playing against a team with a classic 10 (netherlands, germany, not many others?) and that he rarely plays midfield anymore. It would also free up some space in the midfield for someone else (Banega? I don't watch Velez play often but maybe Canteros?).
Lamela also very rarely plays on the right shini, his best games have been as a left forward. Salvio can play RW and is having a good season at Atleti. Otherwise Di Maria can also play in the right just as well.
Orion is a playing very well apparently, I've been a fan of him since his San Lorenzo days, then he disappeared for a while, and now he's apparently having a good run of games with Boca again. Perhaps he should be tried as our keeper?

Re: La Selección Argentina
On Matias Rodriguez, I'm all for having him called up but our biggest mistake in the last coachs era was trying to copy Barcelona, we shouldn't be trying to find our "dani alves" we need to play as Argentina, I miss our football.

Btw I remember there were a few people that wanted Martino as the next coach. He quit Paraguay and is now coaching at Newell's, who today have made it to the top of the table, tied with Boca at 21 points.

Re: La Selección Argentina
I would like to see Matias Rodriguez take part in some of Argentina's friendlies. The guy has played a crucial role in U de Chile's great run of form, scoring and assisting various goals from the right flank, while also showing great recovery when defending. He can be a top player for Argentina, if he does bring his UdC profile to the national team.
-----------------------------Romero----------------
-M.Rodriguez-----Otamendi----Garay--------LB
-------------------------Mascherano--------------
--------------Gago---------------------CM--------
---------Messi-------Higuain-----Di Maria----
Messi ofc drops deeper, while Higuain pushes forward and drifts a little to the right side. With Rodriguez in, we should see alot of moments where he bombs forward and makes link up plays between the midfielders or sends a cross deep into the box. Not sure this could function, however..
