I am really glad that Alves is performing at a very high level again, renewing his contract is one of the best things that happened after winning the Treble this season. A Legend who deserves much more respect from Football fans, especially Barcelona fans.

theres a difference between selling a player and a retiring old player.

Of course it wont change anything but it's a matter of respect. After a few seasons i wouldn't care obviously but at the moment someone worthy should have it as this was the case with Puyol who gave 5 to Busi and now Alves gets the number after Xavi

If it means nothing then why Puyol himself gave it to Busi

Alves wore Abidal's number last season, and this one he wears Xavi's. I'm completley ok with it.

Guessing Adra gets #7 once Pedro leaves. Leaves Aleix has #26 (Thought La Liga #'s could only go to 25)

Well, Alves is a boss and he deserves any free number he chooses. If Messi dies tomorrow, I would be OK with Alves getting his number. He is a club legend in my book, and you don't shit on club legends, we are not RM ffs.
