The annoying thing is that people take these stupid quotes to heart and in any debate after the match all you'll get from some people is

"Yeah but Napoli are rubbish, chelsea could have scored more." etc etc.

It's borderline hard to listen to.


If a foriegn team beats an English team then excuses from "impartial" commentators is all you will hear as to why they couldn't win this once.

If the foriegn team lose to the English team then they deserved it and were just too good.

If it's a draw then the English team should have won.

I remember after the first City - Napoli game the commentators were pretty sure the second leg would be easy for City.

And of course, because Napoli like to sit back and counter attack they're "Hanging on by a thread" <----Neville.

It's not because that's how they have played in many matches against good teams and won. It's luck.

I watched the game in Nederlands (Dutch) live. Then I watch English feed now in replay. Very bias and unfair to Napoli, a very exciting team with many excellent player. But very funny annuncer too. Not true, I understand some Spanish, German I undersatnd and Nederlands fluent. No of these announcer are so bias when team from their nation plays, they speak professionally. Good example is German annuncer for semifnal against Italy in 2006. German annuncer was professional.

really? because Piers Morgan commentated for fox at half time for Arsenal vs Manchester United, and despite it being a particularly close game and Morgan being an Arsenal fan, he was still able to admit that if things go on the way they were, that Manchester United would win because they deserve to win.

I can understand biased celebrations at goals, that's what makes commentating so awesome, like when you're going for the same team the commentator is and they go nuts when the team scores.... that just shows the passion of the sport.

But to say a team that's worked so hard and made it so far, surviving the hardest group of the knockout stages and has a miraculous background story to how they got to the champions league IS LUCKY to win THREE to ONE, is just plain biased and stupid. "If this, if that", pssh.... Napoli could've had two or three more EASILY. There were no refereeing decisions that I thought was out of wack, it was clear Napoli were the better team on this occasion so there was no need for the biased remarks and snobby comments.

Especially the comment he made on De Sanctis when he not only robbed Lampard, but caught the shot... he celebrated, so what. It's in Naples, he kept their dreams alive ( a 3-2 result would be more favourable for Chelsea), and at a crucial moment. What's wrong with doing a fist pump there when goalscorers are allowed to? Matter of fact is CHELSEA were the lucky team to even get the goal... it came off one of the crappiest, flukiest chances ever... yet you got a dumb commentator like Neville insulting the blood (literally, look at Campagnaro) and sweat this team went through.

Red, I understand your defense for Neville because he is Man U legend, but it is not excusable to defend the very obvious bias.

You say that other commentators are just as bias, but that is false.

In no language I or my friends know do the commentators offer such obviously fallacious commentary and their bias does not climb above the goal celebrations.

Neville's commentary boarded on ignorance. He obviously had no respect or information regarding Napoli's players, staff, and coach. He obviously overrates this Chelsea team while Napoli's deserved dominance over them.

Napoli might not be doing that well in the league, but they are not a league team imo. They are a very strong cup team though, and in their day can be quite deadly to their opposition.

Of course, this one time does not discredit Gary for ever, but Sky are serial offenders. And oblivious fans around the world cite their commentary as if it is the bible of football, and this is more an economical stance than a philosophical one imo, and defending it is short of disgraceful.
