Zambia deserves special praise

They won the tournament being big underdogs, beating Ivory Coast in the final. I never thought they could do it. Ivory Coast were the favourites, with so many big players while Zambia didnt, have ranked so much lower. Considering also their history and the plane crash which killed their team in the 90s.... I think they really achieved something great for their country.

I think it also shows that they had a believe and a goal with immense motivation in this tournament, helping them to play above themselves and with belief as they gained momentum along the tournament, which is always so important. And in the end, luck tends to favour those with such beliefs, winning marathon penalty...

Disappointed with the big nations as im sure many are.... but congrats to Zambia, u deserved it.

But seriously, props to them, they did incredibly well.

they really wanted it, they won it

the same as the japanese(ladies) team.... they wanted to win WC for their suffering country and they won it

Zambia wanted to win AFCON in honour for the killed players in 96 and they won

props to them

if only the english NT can win the WC in honour for our downward spiraling economy :coffee:

Too bad the English footballers make way too much money to care!

Right though, Sometimes a lower teams performs above themselves in certain circumstances....France 98 home support was a classic also...
