http://www.goal.com/en/news/10/italy/2011/06/18/2537947/werder-bremen-confident-of-signing-ac-milans-sokratis

AC Milan defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos may well be heading to the Bundesliga if Werder Bremen director of football Klaus Allofs gets his way.

The German club are optimistic that they will secure the central defender they desperately crave. Bremen's interest in Papastathopoulos has been known for a while but any potential deal is complicated by the fact his rights are owned by both Milan and Genoa.

"We are trying to find a solution,” Allofs explained to Kreiszeitung. “Italy is special because clubs often share the rights to a player, just as is the case with Sokratis being owned by AC Milan and Genoa.

"The player lies in the middle and he has a veto. We would not be pushing so hard to sign him if we did not have a clear signal from him that he wants to join us."

Sokratis made a mere five league appearances for Milan, who went on to win the Serie A title last season. Werder plan to loan out the Greece international for a year with an option to conclude a permanent transfer after a season.

Papastathopoulos isn't a Milan player for almost a month now...Either Allofs is a very bad sporting director not knowing who owns the player he's trying to buy or this is news fabrication Carew to Bilbao style fail.

I just realised that we can finally laugh at goal.com! They took our forums away from us and there was a lot to criticise and now we can here!
