Re: Maths- Gym for Brainiacs
Next question:
Franchise , alexjanosik and friends from Farca section meet RM section in a goallegacy brawl
Franchise says to Jack Daniels: Come over to us and we'll overwelm them with doubled number of posters.
Jack Daniles answers to Franchise: Come over to our side, this way each side will have equal number of posters. The discussion will be active and balanced=> what the forum needs
The question, how many posters participate in the GL brawl from Farca and Real Madrid section?
P.S. junior high level
Again, answer and justify why

How would that work because if Barca posters came over then they would still have double the numbers. Or is that part of the trick?

Re: Maths- Gym for Brainiacs
You are the ruler of Goal-legacynation and you are about to have a celebration tomorrow. The celebration is the most important party you have ever hosted. You've got 1000 bottles of wine you were planning to open for the celebration, but you find out that one of them is poisoned.
The poison exhibits no symptoms until death. Death occurs within ten to twenty hours after consuming even the minutest amount of poison.
You have over a thousand slaves at your disposal and just under 24 hours to determine which single bottle is poisoned.
You have a handful of prisoners about to be executed, and it would mar your celebration to have anyone else killed.
What is the smallest number of prisoners you must have to drink from the bottles to be absolutely sure to find the poisoned bottle within 24 hours?

Re: Maths- Gym for Brainiacs
You have two groups of people. How could 2 be the answer?RealGunner wrote:Kamina. 2 ?

Simplified question. If 1 from the second group joins the first one then the 1st group will have double numbers of the second. If the other way around, then both groups will have equal amount of members

I hope it brings more understanding

6 people
4 in group A
2 in group B
if Franchise goes to group B = 3 and 3
if JD goes to group A = 4 and 2

Re: Maths- Gym for Brainiacs
Ok let me see if I get this right:
1. Group A*2 = Group B - 1 person
2. Group A - 1 person = Group B
That's what I understand from your question.
The Madrid/Barca fan thing made my head hurt.

2. Group A - 1 person = Group B

Re: Maths- Gym for Brainiacs
2x = y-1
x-1 = y
2x = (x-1)*1
2x = x-1
x = -1
-2 = y-1
-1 = y
-1 * 2 = -1 -1
-2 = -2
-1-1 = -1
0=0

x-1 = y
2x = (x-1)*1
2x = x-1
x = -1
-2 = y-1
-1 = y
-1 * 2 = -1 -1
-2 = -2
-1-1 = -1
0=0

Re: Maths- Gym for Brainiacs
I'm having similar problems, RG
We've broken math. I've tried adding, multiplying and substituting the ecuations and they all give me funny numbers.

Re: Maths- Gym for Brainiacs
@Sushi, your approach is right but the numbers are wrong
You forgot to consider that if you add 1 member to other group then the previous group will have 1 member less as well
I'm not going to give your the right equations

Group A = 4 members.
Group B = 6 members.
Total = 10.

How is it possible?Sushi Master wrote:10 members?
Group A = 4 members.
Group B = 6 members.
Total = 10.

Test yourself, 4-1=3 and 6+1=7.7 isn't double of 3. It doesn't work

Come on boys, you simply need to think of both ends of the equations
