Chelsea's CB pairing?
Re: David Luiz
Shown his true colors tonight. Real wake-up call for all his knob-jockeys. Been saying it for years, guy's a thug. Dirty, dirty, cynical player.

Re: David Luiz
Yeah he is but at the same time most of his asshole-ish behavior was when he was involved in a 120 minute wrestling match with Diego Costa who's equally if not more of a scumbag.

This, Luiz simply played Diego's game.

Re: David Luiz
Diego's quite dirty himself, but Luiz goes above and beyond. Like that incident where he walked straight up to Costa, lightly chest-bumped him, and jerked back with a feigned half-fall pretending he'd been attacked. None of our players would EVER do that.

Re: David Luiz
Costa has ADHD true, but he really hasn't tried to injury someone like the turd Luiz. I remember he deliberately broke the jaw of some 20 year old in the FA cup a few years ago. Always hated this dog.

Re: David Luiz
Hardly. I've never liked him, as my posts in this thread from years back will testify. He's a dirty player on the pitch (and I'm not talking about mere rough-housing a la Costa), and his whole 'I'm-an-adult-kid' routine and constant, stultifying "geeeeeeezer" bollocks were tired and cringey. It's Kick and Barry who were always gobbling his knob. Hope both, as well as all of his other fanboys, saw his true colors last night now that the shoe was on the other foot and it was against their side rather than for it.

Can definitely see him leaving in the summer, as well as Mata.

That's the usual argument. "On his day" - seemingly ignoring the fact that those 'days' come along 1 game in every 10 or 12.

some of you guys don't think on the long term enough imo.
^ And there's Luiz Fanboy Argument #2. 'He might be dogshit 9 games out of every 10 now, but in a few years, he'll be the BESTESTEST CENTER-HALF IN THE WORLD!!!!1!1!!'

Actually the celebration is the one thing from him I admire from last night. This 'pretend I'm unhappy to score for my team just to appease my former one's fans' malarkey does my nut in.

Re: David Luiz
Costa is the biggest scumbag in football. Can't believe he's getting stick for giving him a taste of his own medicine.
Massive leader and character. Bossed Matic in the first leg and didn't give Costa a sniff in the 2nd. We could have done with him yesterday.

Agree with Gil tbh, over the entire second leg, PSG did 'a Chelsea' on us, and within that, Luiz did 'a Costa' on Costa

So he is back.
Thought I'd see who everyone wants as our starting CB pairing with Luiz back, assuming the rest of our starting XI looks like:

Re: David Luiz
Good signing for you guys to be honest. I don't get why people are mocking it. If Conte is playing a 3 man backline then I would say it is a good buy. If he's going for a 2 man cb, then Luis is a liability. Chiellinni and Bonnuci looked shaky till Conte put them in a 3 man cbs partnership. I wouldn't put either one of them in a double CB if I had the choice.

Jibe pls. My concern with DL is that he lacks any sort of rudimental game knowledge and basic tactical acumen to be a CB of not even elite caliber, just professional footballer level.
For istance not ruining an offside defensive line, not covering but instead rushing to press the ball when there's already his CB partner in a better position dedicated to it, not trying to tiki taka your way out of your box when pressed by 5 people, not having a huge lapse of concentration every 15 minutes.
Bonucci and Chiellini are really uncomparable to him. Chiellini was an established CB even in Alessio Secco's era with Legrottaglie, Grygera, De Ceglie etc and obviously raised his stock with Juve's restored splendor. Whereas Bonucci I do agree was shaky in his start and his deficiencies got occulted by the 3-5-2, but that was down to him being young and not fully developed as a CB. He shined the most and was able to showcase his best in the season where Juve went to the CL final playing in a 4 men defense.
And there's no point in their career where they exhibited as much incompetence as DL, never.
There's a reason both Benitez and Mourinho converted him as a CM towards the end of his first tenure, and a lackluster one I might add.

Re: David Luiz
Great guy. Not a very good player though. BUT, in a 3-man CB setup, it may just suit him perfectly.
